Suggestions to have parents use Marriott points to stay with me at disney??

We are planning a whole family extravaganza in January 2006. I have DVC points and will be getting a 2BD at BCV for my family and sisters family. My Mother has Marriott points and was planning to use hers for another 2BD at Disney for one of the DVC properties (preferably BCV or BW) for her and my other sisters family. When they put in the request through Marriott, she was told it would rarely happen. Apparently Disney reserves all the rooms for DVC members and doesn't release them to interval international until 60 days in advance. (same thing so it seems for Marriott, we can't get ressies through them usually until 60 days out). I've already stretched my points as far as they can go, and can't get another 2 BD.

It's really disappointing as it was going to be the first time we had all 12 of us together on vacation, especially with 3 under 5 y/o.

My question is:

Are there any forums to negotiate trading points with DVC members? They have premium Mariott points so It could be a nice opportunity to get a fun location for a DVC member looking outside the base resorts.

As it is, they have a reservation at one of the other Marriot locations, but it would be so nice to all be at one location.

You may want to post this on the DVC Rent/Trade forum and see if a member is willing to trade for Marriott.

Marriott timeshares do not work on points. Are they trying to trade through II or have they already traded for Marriott reward points (like FF miles)? If they are trying to trade through II for Jan (after the first weekend) and put in an ongoing search, their chances are good but less so for a 2 BR. You may want to post what they have (if they haven't deposited with II already) on the rent/trade board to see if anyone is interested in a direct exchange.

I love my family, but I don't want them all that close. We all would rather have personal space and private entrances, so the grand villa would be out. I'd also have to wait until my 7 month window to make a reservation.

Someone had recommended the tug web site so we may check that out as well. I'll have to verify what my mom's timeshare equivalents are as I only understand disney's.

I wouldn't be so quick to rule out the GV. The OKW GVs could house each family in a different room, and with their own bath and TV, we found most of the family groups stick to themselves except at meal time.

Can't do that. If they still have the timeshare week they can rent it but there will likely be a big price difference between what they can get in $$$ and what they'd pay for DVC. If they converted to points, they are really just FF miles like any other creidt card program and can't be sold in any way.

I'll have to verify what my mom's timeshare equivalents are as I only understand disney's.

Let us know what you find out so we can offer more specific, and hopefully accurate, recommendations. I hope it works out.

I don't think so. Both are now Starwood since Westin and Sheraton joined up. I did a search on the Marriott rewards offerings and couldn't find either. Maybe they're at the Marriott World center so one of the other Marriott's.
