My family and I are planning our first trip to WDW in June we will be there for 10 days. I am planning on purchasing the 10 day pass with hopper only for WDW. Since we have never been there I figure that by getting the 10 day hopper pass for the park we wont have time to go anywhere else. My kids 15, 13, 9. I thought of getting the plus tickets but not sure if we will have time to go so many place. Is 10 days to visit WDW too many days? :earsgirl:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks

Ten days can be alot of time in the parks. That's two days in each park plus a couple of days left over. Personally, I can get by with a day and a half at each park, because even if you've never been there before, it's not likely that you'll want to see and do every single ride and show. Having the plusses can be a nice change of pace -- a day at Disney Quest, or an afternoon at a water park.

The best thing to do is get a good guidebook and go through the attractions, shows and rides in each park and decide what you and your family will really want to do while you're there. Then figure out how much time that will take you and see how many days you have left. I think you'll find that after a few days of park touring, you'll be wanting something different for a day before heading back "inside."

Hi,

We were there in June 04 for 10 days. Got 7 day Park Hopper (no expire) tickets. At the time my DS8 and DD5 couldn't do the parks every day. We built in a rest day. We had at least 1 day of down time we spent at our campsite at Ft Wilderness. One day, we did Disney Quest, just to get out of the heat. Even with that, we came home with one full unexpired day.

My kids needed the break, they were worn out from so much go, go, go every day. :jumping1:

Hope this helps.

I've never been there for 10 days, but we are planning a two week stay this summer (I can't wait!), but I think I would almost choose the plus option over the hopper option (if $ is a factor). I agree with WDSearcher that the waterparks or DQ could be fun for your group. You don't really "need" the hopper option with so many days that you will be there. You would be able to go to a waterpark when it opens, for instance, and still have your park ticket for the evening.

Thanks for the suggestions... if I were to get the hopper pass.. how much would i use it.. Lets say i go to the park early and decide to go back to the hotel to take a break will i be able to return later that same day to the same park if I dont have the Hopper pass. I want to get the plus tickets but we are on a very strict budget so i am trying to figure out what would be the best for us since we have never been there..

The park hopper option adds only $35 plus tax to your tickets, no matter how many days you buy. And the Magic Plus option adds only $45 plus tax per ticket. Yes, you can go to the MK in the morning, take a break, and return to the MK later in the day without the park hopper option. The prices at Ticket Mania for an adult (10+) ticket are as follows: http://www.ticketmania.com/discounttickets.shtml#DisneyPluses

10-day base ticket $212
10-day with park hopping $237
10-day with Magic Plus (5 visits) $247
10-day premium (park hopping and magic plus) $285

If it were me and money was tight, I'd get the 10-day magic plus (that expires after 14 days) and skip park hopping.

Thanks for the information I think I will use the plus ticket instead of getting the hooper pass.. cant wait to get there.. I have never researched anything so much as i have this.. I hope all goes well..

Thanks again..

If you don't get the park hopper option and want to take advantage of the Extra Magic Hour (if you are staying onsite), then you need to make sure the park you enter on any particular day is the one offering either morning or evening extended hours.

This is some really good information. I'm trying to figure out what to do...park hopper, magic plus, etc. We'll be there for 8 days, but only want to visit parks 5 days...then magic plus, hotel pool, etc. It's so cheap for addl. days, we might as well spend every day at parks. I just can't believe an extra day at a park is only around $3 more...that's so strange to me! This is crazy, but is it cheaper to buy an extra day (and park hop...using two tickets in one day) than to buy the park hopper, if you only plan to hop one or two days?

2Minny,

I'm pretty sure you cannot use the park hopper ticket twice on the same day for 2 different parks.

The plus feature would be good to add if you plan to do 2 or more plus activities (water parks, Disney Quest, etc.). We are going for about 11 days and we're getting the 10-day MYW pass with the hopper feature. We may go to a water park one day, but my MIL will be with us, and I don't think she's interested in this...we'll play it by ear. We'll pay the cost of one-day water park tickets if we go. We enjoy the ability to go to the parks every day if we choose, even if it's only for a couple of hours in the evening. With the 10-day pass, the cost difference is so small that we can justify doing this.

We only plan on being in the parks for 5 days. We are going to purchase the 7-day no expiration day passes, park hopper. We figure with the no-expiration, we will be going back again in a few years or sooner, so it won't be a waste of money.

I like the park hopper pass. We are so used to going from early morning until the parks close (according to DH, we have to get the most of our money since it is so expensive). We probably won't do that this trip - take a more leisurely approach.

We found the AK can be done in half a day. That gives use the rest of the day to visit a water park or MGM or MK or Epcot. I like the flexibility to move around. We also figured that the cost of going to Blizzard Beach would probably be more cost effective by purchasing a one day ticket rather than adding on the plus option.

We will be there during April vacation so I expect it to be crowded. Everyone keeps writing about Disney Quest. I am going to have to go searching for info. on this as I have never heard of it.

emeraldlover, we went to disney quest last year...we weren't impressed. But keep in mind, we paid for tickets to go, if they were free with the "plus" activities it would be worth a visit. Does that make sense? We were in and out in 3 hours, not worth the ticket price. But we'd go back if we had "plus" tickets to use. There were about 5 fun things to do there, imo! The other things we just did because we had paid to visit. Not money well spent! I like your idea of buying a day pass to a water park rather than buying the "plus" if you just plan to visit one "plus" place.

thanks for the advice 2minny. We are going to be there for 5 days, and not even sure about the water park. AK we may do just for the morning, as we didn't feel it was worth a whole day. That leaves a day for MK, a day for MGM, a day for Epcot, half day for AK then somewhere after, and either a day at a water park or a second day at MK, MGM, EC, AK, or Disney Quest.

Well, I have about 4 weeks to firm up all the plans, and so far these boards have been quite helpful.
