Woo hoo! Under two months now, so time to really start planning. Here are my first thoughts; please offer any suggestions!

We have 6 day parkhoppers and are staying at Desert Inn and Suites August 2-9, so 7 nights. Driving from Oregon, we will obviously have a car.

First question: Vaguely contemplating spending a night or so at DLH, mainly for the early entry perk. If I did this, it would probably be for our last night. It's a bit of a hassle to move, but we'll have a car....not sure it's worth the expense or not.

Arrive Thursday, AUgust 2, after driving probably from Bay Area. We will leave super early, I hope: how long should this trip take? Would we be better off using one of our 6 days this afternoon or evening, and completely skipping a weekend day (perhaps Sunday, when we are thinking of Legoland) or vice versa?

Friday: Be at ropedrop at DL

Saturday: Use MM at DL

Sunday: Legoland? I have heard this is the busiest day of the week in the summer due to the fact it's unblocked...still not sure if that's true or not. And is Legoland worse? Possibly hit the parks again in the evening.

Monday: Ropedrop DCA? (which would be the best day to try Carsland, assuming we are staying offsite?)

Tuesday: maybe beach in the morning (Balboa?) and more leisurely park time the rest of the day.

Wednesday: Perhaps breakfast at Plaza Inn very first thing, and then last day in the park.

My teenager and I plan to do at least one really late night, perhaps T Party, etc: is one night better than the other for this?

We will also be doing WOC-haven't decided if we will do a dinner package, and husband and I will hopefully be having a dinner alonnnnnnne at Club 33. He'll also be visiting a lot of former college friends while he's there-I've told him he can do that as much as he wants as long as he takes the 2 year old with him :rotfl:

My responses are in bold...

It really depends on where in the bay area you will be. If you'll be in SF, it'll be at least 7 hours. More if you hit rush hour through San Jose. If you'll be in SJ, it's a minimum of 6 hours. Both will be longer if you hit the LA area between 3-7PM.

I would do this on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday. Since resort guests (or APs, I can't remember) will be able to get in to DCA early on M, W, and F, the park will already be busy by the time you get in at rope drop.

Tuesday: maybe beach in the morning (Balboa?) and more leisurely park time the rest of the day.

If you plan to split the day between parks and beach, you'll probably want a beach that is closer.

Wednesday: Perhaps breakfast at Plaza Inn very first thing, and then last day in the park.

Probably the night where you won't be doing MM the next day.

Sounds like a great trip! Have a wonderful time.

You might want to strategize your SD time a bit better. It can be a 1.5-3 hour drive depending on traffic to get there from Anahiem. We are doing a 9 day trip and put our time in SD at the end of our trip (and booked a seperate room near Sea World.) That would be a lot of driving to drive down there and back on two seperate days.

By SD time, do you mean legoland? I'm confused. We aren't going down there twice.

My husband used to lifeguard in SoCal and was surprised to hear someone say Balboa is too far?
