We are cruising on the August 10 7-night Eastern Magic.

Last year, we went on the 3 night Wonder AFTER our week at the World, but this time, we are doing the Cruise only. We booked on DVC points (our FIRST use of the DVC).

We are planning to fly into Orlando on August 9. I am booking flights and ground transport myself. I need recommendations for where to stay for one night before the cruise. Should we look for something at Port Canaveral? Or near Orlando Airport?

Any help is appreciated!!

We had a thread on the Radisson Resort @ the Port special awhile back. Under the 'Fall' promo you can get regular rooms discounted to $59. or the whirlpool suites $99. Lots of board members have taken advantage of it. We have 5 rooms reserved in Dec. night before our cruise. You can call the Radisson direct #321-784-0000 or main reservation #800-201-1718 and ask for their 'FALL' code. Here is their web link ~
good luck, hope it helps you.

We rented a car from Avis at the airport and drove to the Radisson. Turned in the car the next morning and took the shuttle to the ship. Then on return, took shuttle back to Radisson, rented a car and drove ourselves to the airport.

Very convenient--we would never do it any other way! And where else can you wake up and see the Magic waiting for you?

Deb, what time will you be getting in? If it's early in the day, go ahead and make the drive to the port and go with the Radisson. If it's late evening, I'd stay at the Hyatt that is IN the airport (Orlando Airport Hyatt) for the night and drive to the port the next morning. There are other airport hotels around you can get to via shuttle but I like the convenience of being IN the airport and just collecting our bags and checking in.

You'll have a BLAST on the Eastern Caribbean! :sunny:

We were very pleased with the Hampton in April! The free breakfast buffet was very good also. I have some pics of the Hampton on my website - linked below.

I did not know that they offer shuttle to the port though -- Dave, is this something new?
:D

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

You guys are SOOOO good!!

Michelle, I still have to do the flights, but hoping to get in by 4 or 5 pm on Aug 9. Your suggestions make a lot of sense!

Dave, thanks for the link!! I'll check into those if needed.

Jody, they've mentioned a cruise special on their sites for some time now. But when I inquired as to what the package includes, they told me it includes a shuttle. And now it's mentioned on their sites as well.

UPDATE:

Oops, now they're mentioning special summer rates rather than their cruise packages. Still worth calling them though.

Don't forget to check out Hotwire and Priceline if you decide to stay by MCO. We always use them and typically get a room for $25 to $28. WE've been at the Amerisuites, Renaissance, and La Quinta. Usually the price includes breakfast as well, and it has always included a free shuttle. We get a good night's sleep and have Happy Limo take us to the port in the morning. I prefer that to heading out at night, since we typically are on a flight that arrives pretty late. By the time we land and get our luggage from the famously slow ATA, I'm all ready for bed!

Hi Deb,

We are also on the Aug 10 Eastern Cruise! We stayed at the Radisson last year and were pleased with it. We're trying the Royal Mansions this year since we will be there for a few days, but friends have booked the Radisson for August 9 and got the $59 rate.

Can't wait to hear "When You Wish Upon A Star" again!

We've used the Radisson twice and and no problems at all.

On our last cruise a few weeks ago, we used Priceline and stayed at the Amerisuites at the Orlando Airport. Only $38 and they have free continental breakfast. It's not as nice as the Radisson, but it was very convenient and simple to get to.

Have a great cruise!
