Living in Central Florida, I have visited WDW numerous times, and I know they have an abundance of options for vegetarians. I will be visiting DLR for the first time in August, and I'm looking for suggestions and reviews of vegetarian food at both Disneyland and California Adventure. So if you have any, please post them here!!

Thanks!

Hi!

Have you looked at menus on allears.net or dlresortinfo .com? They aren't always totally accurate in items or price, b/c it's regular people going to the parks and updating them, but they are a good start.

There's a Vegetarian Gumbo in a Breadbowl at Royal Street Veranda in New Orlean Square that we love. It's a bit salty, but it's still really good.

There's a Vegetarian Chili in a Breadbowl at Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA. Again, really good.

Assuming you're ovo-lacto:

There are vegetarian options (fajita-style vegetables instead of meat) at Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland, and Cocina Cucamonga in DCA. I don't know about their Mexican rice, and I don't care to ask, but it doesn't TASTE like it was in chicken stock (it's not that rich or fatty-feeling/tasting, if that makes sense).

There's a portabello mushroom (with couscous and spinach) dish at Blue Bayou. (actually I suppose that one is vegan!)

Caprese Sandwich at Wine Country Trattoria in DCA, and they have some other things on their menu (lasagna rustica for instance) that are veggie but I haven't tried, and some that can be made veggie and it states that on the menu.

Veggie burgers at Hungry Bear, but those have been awful when we've tried them. Others have had good experiences with them, though!

An artichoke dip at the Cove Bar in DCA (recent thread, yesterday or so, has some pictures I took there).

Ohhhh, the Penne Pasta with marinara sauce at Plaza Inn is sooooo good. Combined with a side salad, and it was a very filling shared meal for me and hubby. They also have it in a kid's meal size.

That's what I can think of right now, I'm sure I'll remember more later.

I forgot about this b/c I haven't had it yet, but there's a ratatouille on the menu for Cafe Orleans that I'm yearning to try. :goodvibes

Storyteller's character breakfast had veggie sausage out on their buffet, and when I posted that here I was told that the Lilo/Stitch breakfast at Paradise Pier hotel had them too. And I have been told that the expensive Ariel's character breakfast (not even mentioned on disneyland.com as of a few weeks ago) also has veggie pseudo-meat options, along with their platters of eggs and such.

White Water Snacks had no problems keeping the meat out of our breakfast burrito (which was incredible) or french toast sticks.

Cafe Orleans b'fast was good too, though a piece of bacon snuck its way onto my son's plate. No big deal, not touching anything, but I still hear about it from my son...."why the res-rant put meat on my plate?" That gets old!

I always find lots to eat at Disneyland hotel's Goofy's Kitchen. This place is really a must.

I also always get the Gumbo. Hardly any seats, so grab it and eat while you hold your seats for fantasmic.(I like watching from the bridge right there ;)

I eat at the BB for the ambiance, but not loving the portabella cous cous. I usually love portabella dishes (missing the old bb menu)

At the Orleans square, I have eaten the 3 cheese Monte Cristo. Really really rich. I think I might just order the regular without meat next time. The frittas were alright

I also think the River Belle is Vegetarian accomadating. The large fruit plate is sometimes excellent (had one bad plate before) They have a nice veggie stew here as well.

Zoloco has the cheese enchiladas and -huge taco salads(in it's own line) I preffer this place at night!

I liked the storytellers cafe for breakfast. It was nice all the way around

I also love the Boudin Chili in a bread bowl. They have salad in a breadbowl too *scratches head*

The mexican food place next to boudin is ok with veggie tacos and burritos, not exciting, and if there is a line forget about it.

I liked the Taste pilots grill with a build your own burger.

My son absolutly loved to make his own pizza at the Paradise pier hotel's eatery.

I enjoyed my veg. sushi at yamaguci? well it's at the paradise pier hotel.

Napa Rose at the Grand Califonia hotel had a great look and staff, but alot of $$$ for the main dish that the chef made up that was not that exciting. Loved the desert sampler platter though!

Hungry bear is a nice quiet place to use the bathrooms and watch the water, but not that fantastic to eat at.

Mimi's across the street was a nice place with a large menu and free breads and muffins while you wait.

Comic rays has large *good* salad and pizza. I never get the pasta though.
Good salad seems to be hard to come by in alot of places.

Hope that helps. I want to hear what more veggies have to reccomend as well!!!

Also, the French Market has a cajun pasta thing with sausage, you can have it with marinara :) Be wary- unless their soups state it as vegetarian it is not. They have a broccoli and cheese soup and it has chicken stock that we learned the hard way.

What a great thread!

I need to organize these, and print them out. DH is vegan.. he just decided this about a month ago. I handled vegetarian much better. :)

They have mozzarella sticks with marinara at the CS restaurant next to the Stage Door Saloon. They are pretty good.

I remembered that the Tomarrowland stage area has a Roasted veggie type sandwich.

I just heard that Award weiners has a portabella philli style cheese sandwich just added to the menu.

Catal in DTD has a lovely menu, although I have never been. It has a butternut squash ravioli another pasta like dish as well as some nice sounding Tapas.

There is also a Jamba Juice in DTD.

Sounds very interesting! I would never even think to look at a weiner place for veggie food.

I've looked at their menu as I pass by each time. There's a hot dog place at Pike Place Market in Seattle called something like Taxi Dog, and they have a veggie dog, and there's also a hot dog cart that hangs out around clubs where music groups play that has VERY good veggie dogs, so I've experienced veggie dogs at hot dog places, but I've been disappointed until now!

:)

Wow. The only time I've ever seen any was once about 15 years ago at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk - they had a veggie corn dog that was wonderful!

I never saw the option after that anywhere, so I've quit looking. Although, last week the hospital did give us a veggie dog option at the hot dog bar. Guess I should start looking again. How nice for my kids to have an option besides grilled cheese sandwiches or mac n cheese! :cool1:

Aw man, you just had to mention the Boardwalk! I practically grew up there...or at least during every other weekend. Now I'm over at their website and I'm thinking about a visit there....but I was omnivorous when I lived in CA so it's sometimes hard for me to visit (I want to run into Foster's Freeze and grab a big ol' burger for instance)...man I loved the Boardwalk!

I can vouch for the ratatouille's yumminess factor! I recommend it. The corn cakes they put on top are especially tasty.

DH and I were just talking about taking our kids there. I went quite a few times with my youth group, but I've never taken my kids there. That time about 15 years ago was probably the last time I was there. Someday...but right now we're saving up for WDW!!!:cool1:

I don't think I saw these mentioned but I only skimmed so forgive a repeat- La Brea bakery has a totally yummy caprese style sandwhich with pesto and obviously breads/muffins. I can't think of the name of it, but the italian place in DTD had a few options and their pizza next door is decent.

We didn't do a sit down for every meal and I took full advantage of the many fruit/veggie carts throughout DL and DCA.

Also Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in DTD has a very yummy grilled veggie sandwhich!

Be wary of the fried foods though- some vegans will not eat anything that was fried in the same oil as meat, and at disneyland the fries and cheese sticks are fried in the same oil as the chicken tenders, fried chicken, etc.
