Hi,

I already have a ressie for 1st week of Sept. at BWV - 2bedroom. This is my first time staying at DVC (I'm using friends points). It will be me, DH, my sister and DS (almost 2 at time of trip). My friend still needs to give our flight info for ME and ask for DDP. Should I ask her to also request a room location? What do you recommend as a good location (we have standard view)? I'm thinking of coming and going with a stroller and convenience of walking to EPCOT and other resorts in area - we probably won't use the pool much so easy access to pool is not important. Also would it be better to get ground floor for stroller access? Do you have to wait long for elevators and are they roomy for stroller?

Thanks for your help.

You could put in a request for ground floor, which is pool level whereby you can walk out and around the resort to the boardwalk, or onto the walkway to DHS. Lobby level is a flight of stairs above the boardwalk, but same level as front of the resort/parking lot/bus stop.

not a long wait for elevators and yes they are roomy enough for strollers. have fun!

Do you have standard view, preferred view or BW view?

Hi Deb & Bill

I have a standard view. I've stayed at BW at least 3-4 times before at resort - not DVC - so I'm not sure if there's a preferred area or not. Sometimes you get those rooms waaaaaay down at the end of the hall and when you're coming in from a long day at Disney it seems like FOREVER to walk to your room...

I'm assuming I check in at the main desk where I would if I was staying at the resort.

Thanks
Wendybird

With a standard room, you have a couple of options. If you request an upper floor far from the elevators (and you get it), chances are you will have a good view of the EPCOT fireworks. Generally the higher up and farther from the elevators at the BWV provides the best EPCOT firworks view. Also the farther from the elevators you are, the closer you are to the Disney Studios if you use the back stairway (comes out near the canal). That isn't bad if your stroller is the folding kind.

For having a stroller, the first floor is only really good for going and coming to/from Disney studios. If you are coming back from any other place it can take you longer to get to your room. With a first floor room, you'd have to cut back around to the pool area to go in that door or always use the elevator from the lobby (which is on the second floor, to take you down to the first).

The real secret to making the BWV user friendly is learn the stair locations and use them. It shrinks the hallways considerably.

I pay the extra points for boardwalk views at the 11 month with no problem.

We just got back from a stay in rooms 1125 & 1127. 2Br standard view. This is just about as far down the hall as you can go. We were overlooking the pond at the end of the building, and could see the Friendship boats heading down the canal from our patio.

It worked out great for us. We were 2 doors away from the door/walkway out to the bus stop. 3 or 4 doors the other way took us out the back door to the walkway to HS.

We walked to HS one morning without seeing 1 boat go by. We also starting walking home as a boat was approaching the dock at HS and made it back to the back door just as the boat was passing us.

We were skeptical of the room location when we first got there. It is a long way from the lobby and the Boardwalk, but as the week went on, we thought it was great.

Thanks eveyone for all the good input. Since I'm not overly familiar with the BWV and my son can mainpulate stars and the stoller is lighweight with a shoulde strap I'm thinking maybe to let fate decide and not make a request. Sometimes you get the best room that way. I usually have a bad sense of direction, but for some reason when I'm at Disney I know where I'm going! I'm sure we'll be able to find our way around. Plus I'm sure they also have those nice resort maps to help.

I'm just bery happy to be at BWV as I think BW along with Beach and Yacht clubs are the mose convenient resort locations at Disney because you can walk to 2 of the parks, you have 2 other resorts nearby and you have your own boats. (Though I do love WL as well.)

Thanks Again - time now to figure out ADRS as tomorrow is my 180 day mark....
