Suggestions for Orlando hotels?

I'm helping a friend plan a trip to Disney. We've now planned the Disney portion of the trip (staying onsite). They would like to spend a couple additional nights in the Orlando area outside of Disney. They'd like a nice hotel with activities for the kids, but don't want to break the bank. Any suggestions? I was thinking of the Sheraton Vistana. Any other suggestions? I've never stayed at 'nice' hotels outside of Disney. Is the Gaylord hotel really pricey? Thanks for any suggestions!
