Hi everyone.
I'm suddenly planning a trip to Disneyland and am looking for advice.
Last year we were five people (two adults, three kids) and booked a package through Disney and ended up at the GCH with one room that had bunk beds and a trundle bed for the three kids. Worked out great, and wasn't all that horribly expensive, as the other options involved two rooms.
This year we are six people (three adults, three kids i.e. bringing grandma) and that kind of changes the equation completely as far as lodging, I think.
We are not committed to staying in a Disney property, but we do need to be at a very walkable distance, probably no farther than Paradise Pier or so.
I'd love any impressions, suggestions, or opinions about where we should stay, and why. I suspect that a suite will probably be the least expensive option, but don't know anything about the suite options, especially at the off site hotels.
I should add that we definitely like pool time in the afternoon, when the parks get really crowded, and with kids 6, 9 and 12, a good pool is pretty important.
We will be there arriving the evening of Sunday July 8th and leaving most likely the morning of Friday July 13th, if that has any impact on your recommendation.
I might add that our trip last year, my first in 38 years (LOL, I was 5 then), went super smooth, even when it was crowded, thanks to some of the posts here... we knew how to use Magic Mornings, including a great sequence to use in Fantasyland; we knew how to use FP, including how to collect them and reuse them, and how to park hop; we knew about White Water Snacks; the list goes on and on. Super super super super helpful!
Thanks so much for any and all lodging suggestions!
