We had to put points into II due to my becoming pg and having borrowed the points, Anyway, we want to use them in June or July 2009. We've initiate a search to go to Gulf Shores for week, but any other suggestions? We'd like to be at or near a beach and don't want to drive too far (in South Louisiana). It'll be 4 of us, kids will be 1 and almost 7. Thanks

there is a Marriott in PCB - but not really - it is not on the beach. (panama city beach, fl)

still it is very pretty.

I know a dis member posted recently about his stay at Sandestin. I was wondering how often does this trade materialize. We're looking into trying for spring break of '09 but due to extra-curricular activities, we can't stay longer than 3 days. Has anyone tried booking for less than a week?

Pat, they can't use CI for this trip as the deposit has already been made to II.

Normally CI options are best (often only) good for stays that are not a full week. They don't work well generally for long weekends though. One can book 7 months and 1 week ahead for CI.

How many points did you deposit? Overall you better get started for less than 12 months out. Overall I'd concur with Tom's lists. But if you're going to travel as far as some of the options he lists, there are other resorts I'd add including the Hyatt and a couple of others for Marco Island, some Daytona Beach Options, HH, SC beaches and Marriott's Ocean Pointe.

The reason I ask about the number of points is that if you deposited either a lower week or 1 BR points, your options will be limited. I'm going to assume you deposit 160 points, if so, any resort that only has 2 BR units or larger will not be available to you. If you deposited less than that, your options may be further reduced and if it was not HIGH season, you may not be able to search at all for resorts in the areas you mentioned during that time frame.

Keep checking to see if they add the new Marriott at Marco Island to the list and if they do, add it to your request immediately if you're willing to travel that far. You may also want to consider other options like lake resorts or places like Vegas or Branson.
