I'm trying to do a search on finding some math and language activities online that I can print out and get Devyn to start working on to get back in the mindset of school. Does anyone have any good suggestions of some websites I can go to to print some of these things out? I want something that doesn't just offer online answers so I can monitor her progress. (Plus she needs to work on her handwriting).

Ok, lets start with the first thing.

Did the school hand in a summer reading list, and a take home book to be done?

Or list of math concepts?

The library is usually a great source for information.

abcteach.com, edHelper.com, are two really good ones they will take you to a bunch of other sites the possibilities are endless.
On Puzzlemaker.com you can insert words into a varitey of puzzles to help with recognition and figure ground discrimination.

No, there was no summer reading list. She is going to a new school this year. I'm just wanting to get her back in the groove so to speak in the areas that she is weak in.

Thanks for those links! Going to check them out now!

I think I wasn't clear.. In our towns, the library keeps a large portfolio of all the schools reading lists for the summer. All you have to do is go there, and find it, and copy down what you need. Just look up the school name, grade and there you have it!

The library in my town also has worksheets and other stuff as well.

I have a rising 4th grader as well. We expect 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of math review per day, Monday through Friday. He's about to finish the latest HP, and then we'll go to the library for more books. He likes to read, so this part isn't a chore at all...usually he forgets that he has to read for only 30 minutes and reads a lot more than that.

Math...well, it isn't his favorite subject so this part is tougher. I bought him a mulitiplication/division program that he works on, and he also has workbooks for practice. I'm not introducing anything new during the summer; I just don't want him to lose what he learned during the 3rd grade.

He likes to sit outside with his workbooks. For whatever reason that makes it a little more acceptable for him.

Here is a site that allows you to download a free program that produces your customized worksheets. I have used it over the years to help with math tutoring and it is great. It may be more sophisticated than the version I used since it looks like the website has been spruced up.
