On the day we get in to WDW, my sister and I like to have a nice dinner..we normally don't do a park the first night, usually DTD. Any suggestions? Last time we did The Wave and it was good. Just would like to try something new.

here's some of my ideas..

Narcoosee's
Citricos(sp?)
California Grill

These are all resort places..how about DTD places? Is Fulton's Crab House any good? We both like seafood and will be on the DDP.

I think the best seafood of any place on the dining plan is Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. Of the ones you listed as possibilities, I think Citricos is the best. The other two have great views but Citricos has better food.

I am not a huge fan of Fulton's but it's been a few years since I tried it.

we just got back- we went to Wave, Narcoosees and Cali Grill... I think for a first night, the Cali Grill would be so nice because that view to see the fireworks cant be beat.

In DTD I would try Wolfgang Puck Cafe, not as formal as the restaurants you mentioned, but the food and service are amazing. They offer some great choices, and the desserts are unbelievable!:thumbsup2
You didn't say where you were staying, that might also play a part in where you eat. California Grill is always a great bet and you would get to see the fireworks the first night there.

I would go with California Grill and try to time it to see fireworks!:cheer2:

We go to Fultons every trip and always enjoyed it. We have also been to your other three choices and you cant go wrong with any of them.

DH & I are doing the same thing - no park on arrival day (We want to hit the parks on day 1 fully rested!). We are going to Sanaa in the AKL on the first evening. The nice thing is you can explore the resort, see the animals, try new foods and have view of the animals as you eat.

Last year, we spent the afternoon at the Wilderness Lodge and rented bikes, sat by the pool for a little while having drinks and then had an early dinner at the Whispering Canyon. While it wasn't a more upscale restaurant, this was a wonderful, relaxing day and we did not start the trip out exhausted.

Thanks, all. I have a little bit of time before I fax over my requests to the IPO at Poly..thanks. I'm so torn, Cali Grill seems awesome but I've never been to AKL to eat..decisions,decisions..

Cali Grill! Great view of the MK or time it right for WISHES too. really gets us in the spirit of the trip on the first night. I've eaten here about 5x now and love it!

JIKO is also a good choice- my sister enjoyed their meal there in dec and we plan to try on our next trip- i've been dying to try it!

I like the pp's idea of AKL for dinner.

While I have never tried Sanaa, take a look at Jiko if you decide to head over there. AMAZING!

Hands down - at DTD, I never miss an opportunity to go to Fulton's when I am down there. :thumbsup2

Ditto for Flying Fish. Never had anything there that wasn't excellent (even during the years when dd didn't eat fish; her steak was always perfect). Depending on what time your ADR is, there is fun entertainment on the boardwalk in the evening as well. Also Jellyrolls. Have a great vacation:stitch::eeyore:

I think that it's hard to go places on your first night so I would suggest eating out at your resort, swimming, and enjoy being at disney. When we went this past august we headed to DTD on a wednesday night and it was extremely crowded! You could not even shop.We went another day back to DTD and found it actually enjoyable to shop because it was much less crowded. That is why were sticking around the resort on our next trip. :)

We always dine on the Boardwalk during our first night. Much less crowded than downtown disney.

This past year, we had a wonderful dinner (and beers) at the Big River Grille and Brewing Works. The "blackened mahi-mahi caesar salad" was amazing.

Flying Fish and ESPN Zone are a couple of other choices on the Boardwalk. Check it out.
