My husband and I will be coming out for a long weekend the end of August. We will be celebrating our birthdays and 10th Anniversary. We are DVC members and will be staying in a studio at grand Californian. My husband just lost his job so I am looking for economical places to eat with maybe one splurge for a romantic dinner. We are adventurous eaters and love all types of food.

I love the Paradise Garden Grill in DCA! There is a nice covered area to eat, and off and on live bands throughout the day. They serve Greek food- meat skewers, salads, and gyros. My favorite is the spicy meatball skewer with rice and cucumber salad and flatbread. Very unique theme park food in a nice atmosphere!

Also, we noticed that most counter service restaurants serve big portions that we split to save money, and supplemented with awesome snacks like frozen bananas, popcorn, churros, caramel apples...

For a splurge, I would recommended a WOC lunch package at Carthay Circle. You get your World of Color Fastpass for the evening show, and the menu has lots of unique and tasty options, plus the restaurant is beautiful and relaxing.

I am also tempted to try out Steakhouse 55 for breakfast, most people have given it great reviews. Maybe splurge first thing, for a steak and eggs breakfast?

As the pp said, most portions at DLR are generous enough to share, which can add up to big saving. DH is a big guy, we share meals all the time at DLR, and he never goes hungry. One fun, more budget minded splurge is to share a meal in the NR lounge. It is a very nice atmosphere and the menu is delicious. We share one glass of wine and several appetizers or one entree. It is a relaxing, grown up meal that doesn't break the bank. If you skip the wine the meal will be even more economical. Will you have a car? There are many inexpensive restaurants (great ethnic food!) not far from the DLR area that can be fun for food adventures.
