Suggestions for dealing with hip pain with standing

I few people have already said but footwear matters! I have joint issues and hip pain, and when I switched to Brooks Adrenaline it made a huge difference in how long I could walk/stand before the pain set in. The Adrenaline make is specifically for ankle stabilization, which helps keep the entire leg stable. I've heard good things about HOKA but not tried them myself

Other things I use:
  • arch/ankle compression socks on my bad leg
  • sombra cream (I'm guessing it's similar to icy hot, which I've never used. Sombra is more like a lotion and doesn't leave your skin feeling weird and sticky). My chiro's office uses this before all adjustments and I honestly love it.
  • lidocaine patches (your mileage may vary on this one. some patches stick very well on their own, while others I needed to hold in place with medical tape)

I get GI bleeds with NSAIDS, Tylenol was no help at all.
This is the story of my life with RA. Also, can walk well but standing is a whole other joint burning story. My life is Biofreeze in all forms and China Gel but very interested in looking up several of the remedies I see listed in this discussion.

Thank you for posting as I plan on trying new products to add to the massive supply I have now. I swear my suitcase to Disney contains so many products I could open my own pharmacy.

And yes, on one very bad night at Disney about a year ago, I resorted to taking a 12 year old Norco. Yes, I know....old. Still definitely not tossing the bottle. Older people have an insane time trying to get a doctor (even my RA doctor) to prescribe. Ever since the "Dopesick" documentary about the Sackler family expose' on Hulu, it's been a nightmare to get any pain prescription.

If you have someone to help push then perhaps think about a wheelchair. You can buy portable travel wheelchairs that weigh 15-20 pounds for $150-$200. If you feel like walking, then you can use the wheelchair as a walker and sit when you need to. I'm not sure I would try to self-propel sitting in a wheelchair, but it should be safer than trying to self-propel with a rollator.

Also, portable travel wheelchairs are great to enjoy zoos and museums, too.
