We just read "At the Scent of Water" by Linda Knowles for our church selection....it is fabulous and you can go to her website to get discussion questions...I think our leader got the books from Amazon...my husband even read it and said that he loved it, too...
'Cool Moms' Book club for tonight has been postponed due to the snow. I have about a foot in the driveway and two feet on the deck. I am SO ready to get out of the house. DH said we may get to the store tomorrow.
Jan Karon is an author you're looking for. She wrote the "Mitford" series about a small town Episcopalian priest. Very interesting stories. I'd start with the first in the series. (Just google or Amazon to find out more.) Very gentle reads.
I loved the Mitford series!!! I just saw a book at Costco that looked along the same lines, but can't remember the name now.
The Number 1 ladies detective agency books are great too!
whoops, you right, Ann B. Ross. I too enjoy the Big Stone Gap books, tho I didnt mention them because I 'thought' they might have some slightly steamy parts.
You may be right...I can't remember...But no great details, I'm sure. I've recommended them to all my little old lady clients. I'm sure they've never heard of sex. And remember, a good book crosses your path, tell me about it, please!!
Oh, ok.... I guess I was just expecting something along the lines of "not to our/my taste" or "all of us had read it before" but thanks for the detail .
agnes!
PS - I'd still recommend "McCarthy's Bar" and "The Help".
