Suggestions for cheap hotels closest to DTD?

We are headed down for a long weekend in October and are staying at Wilderness Lodge for 2 nights, but won't arrive our first night until well after midnight and don't want to pay more than necessary just to go to bed for a few hours! I'd like to stay as close as possible to DTD, because we will probably be spending some time there the first morning before we check into our beloved Wilderness Lodge! I don't want to pay the prices that even the onsite DTD hotels have listed, and am not as familiar with those that are right outside that gate. It seems like the Maingate area hotels are only close to the other side of Disney so I was wondering does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for hotels closer to the DTD side? I want CHEAP but not completely disgusting. We are just wanting somewhere clean and safe to sleep for a few hours.

We always stay at the Fairfield Inn in the Marriott Village for our pre-POR stay. It is right down the road from Downtown Disney, across the interstate.
It is nice and clean, we always have a good experience there, plus they have a continental breakfast. Rates vary, I don't know which week that you are going, but we have paid as cheap as $79. Hope this helps.

Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista. 8442 Plam Parkway. This is about a five minute drive to DTD. It's basic but clean and safe. We stay here when we are looking for a just sleeping and showering place. In the off season rooms are apox $49-$59. In the height of summer, Christmas and Spring Break rates were about $79 a night.

I just found this for 57 on hotels.com. It doesnt say so but does it usually include breakfast? That would be a nice plus.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Try Hotwire,Travelocity super secret hotels or Priceline name your own price, look for hotels in the Lake Buena Vista area,I usually stay more in the International Drive area as there are more hotels there but have stayed at several around Lake Buena Vista,I think the last one I got was the Country Inn and Suites right there on 535,it's basically right in the parking lot where Giordano's is at.I don't think I paid more than $40-$45.Betterbidding.com works great with Hotwire and Priceline to get an
idea of what hotel you might get.

Maybe this is stupid of me or I missed something, but...if you are checking in first thing in the morning and arriving after midnight...wouldn't that be your first night, so you would not have to rent anything???:confused3

No breakfast at Clarion. Sorry. There is a Burger King on the corner of 535 & Palm Parkway and a McDonalds in the Shopping center across from Hotel Plaza Blvd. The room also has a coffee maker (coffee & tea in room), small frige and microwave. Hope that helps.

what you have to remember is although she plans to check in first thing in the morning her room may not be ready till 4p.m. So she needs some place to sleep when she arrives after mid night.

Actually the Clarion does have breakfast, and I reserved through the link for $39, and for $10 more you can add breakfast but we decided not to. We usually bring a few granola bar, snacks, etc anyway.

And it will probably be close to midnight when we get there, but that still counts as a night, and we will have to sleep somewhere before we move to WL the next day. I have never heard of anyone checking in, in the middle of the night for the next day?
