I'll be visiting California Grill for the first time in Feb. and was looking for recommendations. My DH will no likely pick a red meat or chicken dish, but I'm open to anything and plan on picking the the most raved about dishes at all of the restaurants we visit (cedar plank salmon at AP, Potatoe wrapped grouper at FF, etc). I was wondering what was a 'must have' at California Grill. Any help would be appreciated. TIA!

If they have this as an appetizer, I highly recommend:

The pork egg rolls with mizuna and voodoo mustard sauce.
Also, the flatbread pizzas. I had the smoked salmon. Wow, was that good.
My girlfriend usually gets the goat cheese ravioli and loves it.

As for the entrees:
Tamarind barbeque beef filet with escarole and buttermilk crushed Yukon Golds. Always great!
And as often as we've been there, my girlfriend has always ordered the grilled pork tenderloin with polenta and Balsamic smothered Cremini mushrooms. It's their signature dish. My girlfriend says I hate to order the same thing all the time, but she says it's that good!

It's tough, but you've gotta save room for dessert.
Anything chocolate or anything with crepes gets my thumbs up.

You will have a super time. Make sure you go out and watch the fireworks.

I really enjoyed the tuna dish that I had. The triple cheese flatbread was great.

But the don't miss for me there is the Chocolate Bread Pudding. I'm not a big bread pudding fan... but this is WONDERFUL!

Thanks so much to both of you! Much appreciated!

KFISCHER.....go out to watch the fireworks? Do you do this during dinner? After? My PS is only 45 min. before the fireworks and I'm sure that I will have trouble getting a window table (or for that matter....maybe any table at all before the fireworks...LOL), so...........

I will have the option of going out to an observation deck during dinner or after? (I guess that it would probably have to be during......ugghh yuck. I'll have to keep calling to try to get an earlier PS.)

45 minutes before the fireworks is fine.

When the fireworks start, just head out to the observation deck.
A lot of people do.

Your wait person will adjust. Have a drink or appetizer beforehand. Tell your wait person you're going to go out to watch the fireworks, and I'm sure you won't have a cold entree waiting for you when you come back.

Now, you can always stay inside during the fireworks, but who knows where you'll be seated.

Best view, in my opinion, is out there on the deck. Incredible! You'll also be able to hear the music piped out on the deck ( as well as inside the restaurant).

Yellowfin tuna, seared rare. This was so good that I've made it myself a couple of times. Furthermore, it made me willing to go all the way and try sushi, which I discovered I really like!

KFISCHER is right--keep what you already have.
The servers are well familiar with the fireworks aspect--in fact, when they dim the lights in the restaurant at fireworks time, most of the service seems to stop right along with it.

I love the beet salad...it is so good. I now have my husband and older son ready to order it on our next trip after sampling mine1:D

I also love their chicken caesar flatbread!
