Suggestions for Birthdays

Hi all!

Just booked our first trip home to OKW in September and belatedly realized we'd be there for DH's birthday. I was wondering if there any cool birthday things to do - I think I remember reading something about a birthday cruise somewhere. Should I tell MS that it we'll have a birthday in our party?

We've celebrated birthdays on two of our trips home, and in March of '04 we'll be arriving on our twin dds' 10th b-day.

We've gone to Chef Mickey's for dinner, and have done the fireworks cruise afterwards. If you tell them when you make the reservation you're celebrating a birthday, they'll have a special placemat and pin for the birthday boy! Donald's Breakfastosaurus makes a big deal of it too - has the whole restaurant sing!

We've never told MS we're celebrating a birthday, so I don't know if they do anything or not. From what I've read i npast posts, I think it's kind of hit or miss.

You can book an Illuminations birthday cruise 60 days prior. They are hard to get sometimes, so I would call at the 60 day time. We did that for DD in 2001 and it was nice. They had birthday streamers and balloons on the pontoon boat and a birthday cake with sodas to eat while waiting for Illuminations to start. It is rather pricey, though. I believe it was $220 before tip. This past month, we did a regular Illuminations cruise which was only $125 (party of 12) before tip.

Let the restaraunt you go to know there is a birthday. They will announce the birthday and bring out a cupcake with a candle. We did DS's birthday dinner at Teppanyaki and they brought out a whole small cake enough for everyone at the table we were dining at.

OKW has always been good at bringing some balloons with a birthday card to our villa while we are out for the birthday person. I let them know at check in and remind the day prior. I have read here that sometimes this does not happen, so don't get your hopes up if the resort does not come through.
