I've done my darndest to convert my family into "foodies." My 12 and 9 y.o. both eat sushi, mussels, calamari, duck, salmon, escargot, lamb, raw oysters, ect. (tho its sad to say... I can't stomach most seafood items!)

We've done disney dining plan several times and i've finally bullied DH into letting me book free dining this august. We're there 4 nights which means four TS resturaunts.

In the past we've visited (many more than once):
Rose N Crown
Le Cellier (Lunch & Dinner)
Teppanyaki
O'hana
Bomas (breakfast & dinner)
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Coral Reef
Crystal Palace
Akershus
Marrakesh
Cinderella's Royal Table
Rainforest Cafe
ESPN Club
Chef Mickey's (Breakfast)
Fulton's Crab House

Now..having said all that we would like to try ALL NEW places to eat. I'm thinking Kona Cafe, Chefs de France, and the Garden Grill.

I still need a 4th place to book. OR if you disagree with my current choices or think I should revist places I've been before, let me know! I'm open to suggestions. We havent been in 3 years and some of these resturaunts we haven't been to in 9 years!

TIA!

Biergarten at Epcot, for dinner. The food is AWESOME!!! German food is very good, it is a buffet so everyone can try lots of different foods, and there is wonderful entertainment going on during dinner. We LOVED it there, and will be going back there next year!

The new restaurant Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge sounds like it has some interesting food, we are trying it ourselves in july :) also trying Chefs! hoping to see remmy! Good choice with Kona we love the food there! maybe you could also consider Tusker House? seems they have all sorts of offerings. We also enjoy Spoodles on the boardwalk... not sure when its set to close tho, maybe you could vist before it gets replaced!

Happy choosing! :)

Kona Cafe is a great choice. We love the shrimp & scallop dinner there, and now they have some sushi appetizers available too.

Since your kids like sushi, maybe look at Tokyo Dining. They have some interesting looking combinations there that are covered by the dining plan (individual rolls aren't, so we're waiting till our non-DDP Christmas trip to try it).

It hasn't opened yet, but for more adventuous eaters Sanaa at the new AKV looks like it is going to have some good choices. It is Indian/African inspired and the menu looks pretty interesting.

Tutto Italia in Epcot is very good as well. DS11 loved their calamari.

Wow..thanks for the suggestions! I haven't even heard of Sanaa!

Guess thats what I get for being out of the loop for 3 years.

I have considered Tusker's. We've eaten there when it was a CS but now it looks like it has "boma-esque" offerings.

Off to look up menus! Thanks for the suggestions.

IMHO, Garden Grill is sort of eh. We are a self-described foodie family too and we were quite disappointed in Garden Grill. Honestly, I think we could have made a better meal at home. DS4 wouldn't even eat his kids plate. I'm sure other people have had better experiences, but we won't go back.

I've heard the Wave is great.

If you really want to be adventurous, I would definately suggest Jiko at The Animal Kingdom Lodge. Wonderful food and experience and like nothing we've ever had before. :thumbsup2

The dinner buffet at Tusker House was our favorite meal this year! :goodvibes

If you go with Kona, take a close look at the kids meal. We were very unhappy with the choices. IF you choose an appetizer, then you get a just a hot dog or burger for the entree. A burger ONLY. All the other TS places let him choose and appetizer as well as a side item with his entree. DS ended up HATING Kona, and we have not been back.

I'll second Jiko for an "adventurous choice", but it is a 2 TS restaurant. The Wave (at Contemporary) might be an interesting 1 TS option.

For the record, we did not have this problem last month. I was able to mix and match two "sides" for the kids and still choose any entree I wanted for them.

I second the nominations for Jiko and the Biergarten. Both are great buffet's with both standard and 'unique' fare. Very good food, and great atmosphere in both.

We were able to mix and match as well and they had grilled fish as an option. Which just happened to be Mahi Mahi! Done perfectly.

I second the Biergarten vote!

So were you able to get an appetizer, entree with side, and dessert?
If so, that is good to know. DS was crushed when he was only allowed a burger. His brother shared some fries with him, but we decided not to go back until our boys were 10 or older if we were using the DDP.

Is Sanaa open?

Does anyone have pics? Can anyone tell me more about the "flights" offered?

Oops nevermind...answered all my own questions with a little research. Funny..no desserts. Wonder how that will work out with DDP.

There are probably desserts on a seperate dessert menu that wasn't released along with the rest.

Jiko is out of this world. We also love Biergarten :)
