My daughters birthday has already passed but I havent had her party yet.. Her birthday is a few days after Christmas and I always let some time go by before I have her actual party... I get her a little something and give that to her on her birthday, but with her birthday being so close to Christmas I let some time go by before we do her actual party and let a few of her friends come over.. My dilema is that she is 8 yrs old and what I would call a tomboy... most of her friends are boys, although a few are girls.. she loves baseball, football, video games.. basically anything little boys like.. she doesnt like dolls, playing house, tea parties.. etc..

She wants to do her party at the house this year and I was thinking on ordering some pizzas and I will make her cake.. but I dont know what to do as far as activities, games, etc..

Anyone have any suggestions??

I remember Martha Stewart Kids had a great "Carnival Party" in one of their issues. I just searched and it isn't on the website, only the tatoo part of the carnival. Basically they set up carnival games in the backyard. Kids would win tickets and at the end trade in tickets for goodies to fill their own goody bag. Or www.familyfun.com has lots of great parties. This is a Family Olympics party, but you could easily adapt it to kids only http://familyfun.go.com/parties/kids-games/feature/famf58olympics/

http://209.15.117.162/html/carnival_parties_0.html This is a carnival party on www.birthdaypartyideas.com. They have LOADS of party ideas, many of them are very extravagent, but you could certainly simplify it.

My DS8 is friends with lots of tomboy girls. One of these friends had an awesome Harry Potter party.

Good luck and have a great time!

Thanks for the links.. I think we came up with a theme.. She wants to do Chicken Little.. So we found some chicken games we can play.. Egg relay with spoons, egg toss, hidden eggs (put yellow pom poms in easter eggs and hide them.. then the kids find them and open their eggs counting the yolks.. the one with the most wins a prize), take small white balloons and fill with water and do a egg balloon toss, pinyata, Guessing game in a box, guessing game in hand, guessing game in jar, dart balloon prize game.. Take a big bowl and put spagetti noodles, a little oil, peeled grapes, etc and make it nice and slimy.. then put some barnyard animals in it and then have 2 kids at a time race to see who gets the most out in the time allowed..

Cant wait!!

My DS wanted a house party last year. The "theme" we went with was a make your own sundae party. I got different icecreams and toppings, and let them have fun with it.

One of my favorite party activities that we did at my son's party when he was about that age was a scavenger hunt that involved getting items from different neighbors and from around the neighborhood. Obviously this would only work if a person is in a good neighborhood for this type of thing. I had the kids collect various items that people would likely have. I got lots of positive comments from the neighbors--they liked their involvement (something that I was concerned about before doing it). I put the kids in small groups (3 kids, I think) with adults to help supervise.

I love this idea! Will the other girls touch it? Justbe sure you have something to cut the grease with or you'll have oily fingerprints everywhere!

All of our parties are home parties and we have had some doozies. My favorite was when the kids painted a pot, let it dry, then filled it with potting soil and marigold seeds. Stick a fake flower in for show and it looks real cute. Of course, DS would say the best party was the time they all dressed up as superheroes and threw water balloons at each other :rolleyes2
