I am really excited about our fist stay at AKV in June. I just called ( BWV is home) and they had a Savannah View Studio in Jambo. Any suggestions on location requests? How are the views from these rooms? Suggestions on activities- I've heard about the "night vision" goggle things and the story teller at the fire. Any feedback on those activities or others?

This was a last minute trip- I'M SO EXCITED!!! We we did Give a Day Get a Day promotion for our Dec trip but realized it wasn't effective after Dec 15th- so that instigated a whole other trip in June to get our tickets and upgrade to season passes for a trip in June and December! Pretty smart promotion if they've got me coming back 2 times this year! ( We usually go every other year)

Jambo has 3 savannah's (If you think Jambo is kinda a "U" shape, The lobby is attached to the bottom of the "U" and the savannah's from left to right are:
(left) Sunset Savannah (middle) Arusha (Right) Uzima

They have somewhat different mixes of animals. It used to be Arusha was the largest but now Kidani is to the left side of the larger Sunset Savannah.

Usually a greater request is close to the lobby (bottom of the "U") For expanse of Savannah views, then Sunset or Arusha might be better, Uzima is more intimate.

All savannah's have a few rooms that may have a close tree somewhat obscuring the view, and they may all look down on a people viewing area.

Now, if you plan on being in the room only in the AM, Uzima may be better, and if you plan to be in the room in the evening, then Sunset may be better (Because of animal feeding times and animal care times where they go "back" for a daily check; when animals are roaming around more) Usually the views are more appreciated if you spend a variety of times watching the animals

Any advice on the activities? What times are they usually?

If I understand your post correctly- your saying close to the lobby is usually best. What time is feeding usually done? Trying to plan our park hours vs hotel lazing hours.

There were usually "cultural ambasators" (African naitives) in the Jambo lobby in the afternoon that may have music or stories or displays and/or kid activities. I did not participate in the night-vision and/or fireside stories, though..
Feeding times vary depending on the savannah. I was on the sunset savannah late fall of 2008 and feeding time was about an hour before sunset (which was about 5 or 6pm at that time). Unfortunately, I am not aware of the others, but I think Uzima was AM and Arusha might of been more mid-day.

Close to the lobby is faster to get to the restaurants, pool and busses. Does not mean you get a bad view towards the end of the hallway, though. Many complain about the really long hallways (as with most every DVC resort) which is why I mentioned it.
