Suggestions for a surprise trip

I booked a trip for just myself and my two children ages 7 and 11. My plan is to tell them "I'm taking off work and we're going to Chicago early in the morning tomorrow". We live pretty close to Chicago, but for Disney we've only flown out of Milwaukee and Rockford Airports. So I think mentioning "Chicago" will throw them off. Chicago usually means the zoo, museums, Navy Pier, Sears Tower to them. I thought a few minutes before we get to the airport, I'd give them some numbered envelopes with 'clue' about our day and let them try to figure it out. I think the notes inside will say something like
1. "How would you like..."
2. "to go"
3. "to the"
4. "happiest"
5. "place on Earth"
and then I would hold up a sign saying "TODAY".

How have others surprised their kids? Any ideas or suggestions for me?
BTW I KNOW my kids will be THRILLED with the surprise so I'm not concerned at all with that issue. Just how to get it done...
TIA

Thats a very cute idea! They will be thrilled.

Im sorry but i can't offer ANY help...I got a BIG mouth and can't keep a secret for more than 2 minutes. I'm crazed at Christmas time!

All I wanna say is your a GREAT MOM!!! That's an awesome surprise!!!

I surprised my adult sister last year. It was awesome!! How about getting a picture of WDW or Mickey and cutting it into pieces. Let them put it together like a puzzle!! What an great idea for you to do!! Your kids will remember this forever, not just the WDW part but the surprise of it all. You can also schedule some surprises while you are there that they won't know about like Illuminations Cruise/Fireworks Cruise...or Character meals...or MNSSHP or MVMCP. Have a great time!!

it's kind of a last minute trip, 32 days til we get there (8/24). I was able to get 1900 Park Fair for dinner one night. My kids have always wanted to see GF (ok I do too ;) ). My only 'worry' is that we've only stayed at POR and we'll be at ASMovie this time. We don't spend time in the room and the other trips have been with my parents (they paid) and I just can't afford the extra expense. I'm pretty sure the kids and I will just be happy to be THERE though and the theme of the resort looks very neat.

We really enjoyed Movies when we stayed there, I didn't know if we would or not, but even DH and I did, and of course the kids loved it.

We surprised our then five year old granddaughter. She was only told that she'd be going to Florida to meet her almost stepdad's (my son's) family. Well, she did - she just didn't know it was going to be at Disney World. When we pulled onto Disney property and saw the first signs (we kept referring to Disney World as the grandparent's house), I turned around and said "do you know how I told you one day I'd take you to Disney World?" She smiled and said yes (totally clueless up to this point). Then I said "well, today is the day".

It did help that just hours before that, my son had proposed to her mother.
