I'm the room mom for ds's class. I got lucky that for both Halloween and Christmas his teacher had a story and activities that she suggested we use for the party. This time, she said I'm on my own.

HELP!!!! Any suggestions? We only have about an hour and that includes passing out the Valentines and having the PTO snack.

We took those long strings of licorice and put a marshmallow heart in the middle and two students took an end of the licorice and had a race to see who could eat their half first and reach the heart!

The kids had a blast with it!

Decorate their own cupcakes or sugar cookies. Valentines Day bingo with candy hearts for the bingo markers. You could do a mad lib Valentine's Day story. You could have them write letters to the troops in Iraq.

I am filling a clear plastic box I got a Michaels for like 1.50 and filling it with conversation hearts and the kids have to try and guess how many are in ther and the willer gets the box. Only problem is you have to count them firs. I do this for each parts. The last one had green and red M&Ms and halloween had orange and black M&Ms.
We are also decorating big sugar cookies.

How about making Valentines or little gift bags for a nursing home or the school staff?

DS' 2nd grade class is decorating valentines (4-6 per student) for Veterans. The teacher plans to deliver the valentines to the local VA hospital. The class will also have a snack and pass out their valentines for each other.

Last year, DS' class decorated plain wooden frames that I bought at a craft store. We used a polaroid camera to take a picture of each child, and sent the frames home as a Valentine present from their child. The class really enjoyed this project. I had brought in stickers, markers, stamps plus some feathers, lace and fabric scraps to decorate the frames.

Thanks for all the great suggestions and keep them coming........
