I am getting married in November. ( Yay!) We are eloping and I need to diet. I am trying to decide if I should join Jenny Craig? Nutrisystem? WeightlossMD? Weight Watchers? I have about 40 lbs to lose. I work out regularly, but I need to control my diet, that is where my issue lies. Any suggestions? I really want to feel good on my wedding day. I have tried WW before and failed miserably, I think a prepackaged diet might be better for my lifestyle. Anyone have personal experience?

I have lost 20lbs on Jenny Craig! Its taken me 2 months to do it.

How is the food on Jenny Craig?

Its actually good. :) However, it is a very expensive diet. I paid $350 for the program and a little over $500 a month for the food. Plus you have to buy all of your fruit, veggies, yogurt, cottage cheese and milk.

loseit.com - I have lost 21 pounds since Jan 10. It's a great app - you can even do it on an iphone if you have one (I don't :rotfl:) It's great because it really forces you to look at what you're eating and count those calories. Good luck, and I hope you have a wonderful wedding!

I do Weight Watchers and it works really well for me. I like going out to eat a lot and I'm not sure I could be cornered into a pre-packaged plan. Plus when I stopped WW for a few months I didn't really gain any weight back because I had made some permanent changes in my diet. I think it's a better solution.

...for me anyway.

For me as well. And I'm of an age at which losing is much harder; my metabolism has just slowed down dramatically.

OP, first, congratulations on your wedding! If you really want to "feel good," and continue to feel good throughout your marriage, WW is the best way to go. It teaches you how to eat and how to cook. Once you lose the weight and are married, it's so easy to fall back into bad habits if you've had your prepackaged diet handed to you. You'll find yourself busy as a new wife; one or the other or both of you will have to make meals. If you don't know how to shop and cook healthy, you'll just put the weight back on.

I've lost 8 pounds on WW in 6 weeks. I do it totally on-line. And I've gone out to eat numerous times; I just got back from a trip to London, and today we went to Chinatown for lunch. And I'm still losing!

Again, congratulations, and good luck to you!

I have lost 38 pounds on Nutrisystem. I have loved the food and the ease of the plan. I can save you $30 if you choose to try this plan.

Just PM me and I will answer any questions you may have.

Good luck on your up coming wedding.

Weight Watchers. You eat "real" food and it's something you can do for the rest of your life. The others work, but only in the short term for most people.

I have lost 15 Lbs. since New Years. Cut out out all wheat/gluten, no soda and no alcohol. Lots of fruits and veggies.

My husband has lost 37lbs.

Two women in my office have done Jenny Craig and they both lost a lot of weight. One of them stopped and she ballooned up very quickly.

I've been tracking my food on sparkpeople and doing my own thing and I've lost 13 lbs since mid-January (I only set out to lose 10 lbs.). Portion control was the key for me and from their I made MUCH better food type choices and, even at 47 with age against me, it really started to come off.

If you are not ready to make the commitment on your own to cut calories, bad foods, etc., then Weight Watchers, Sparkpeople, etc. probably won't work for you and something like a Jenny Craig might be better. But I don't feel that the prepackaged diets are a long-term solution.
