I am working on our Dining Plan for January and am kinda stumped. I am looking for a quick bite to each after we finish the half marathon. It would need to be a resort since we aren't going to the parks that day. Hubby loves Earl of Sandwhich but I already have planned for it twice! Any suggestions? Thanks!

Depending on what time you think you might finish, it might still be breakfast time.

What resort are you staying at? My guess is that you'll want to shower and change first (please! :rotfl: ) so depending on where you are staying helps to answer this question.

If you want DTD Wolfgang Puck Express is pretty good. Otherwise just base your decision on what resorts you want to explore Beaches and Cream if you want the EPCOT resort area, Mara for AKL, the Pepper Market if you want to explore CSR or even Kona for the POLY.

Trail's End at Fort Wilderness would be a nice relaxing choice. Dinner price is about $16 a person so lunch would be less than that. If Spoodles serves lunch that would also be a good choice. I'm not sure if they are open for lunch.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. We are staying at OKW, but eating at Olivia's the night before. I guess it might still be breakfast, since the race is only 3 1/2 hours and starts at 6. I just didn't know by the time everything wrapped up if it would be lunch.

Is that $20 per person or $20 total?

Which resort is closest to the end of the marathon? Are you planning to go back to the resort first to freshen up, or do you want to just head over to eat after the marathon?

For breakfast and lunch, Kona is a great spot to eat near MK. Beaches & Cream is another great spot for lunch. For breakfast, the food courts do a pretty decent job.

I would choose Wolfgang Puck Cafe (not Express) or Kona or GFCafe. If it is still breakfast Kona or GFCafe would still be good choices. When is the marathon next year? Perhaps some of the Christmas decorations will still be up and you could do the monorail circuit and enjoy them.

Oh, did you mean $20 each or total? I don't think the places I named would be under $20 total. Sorry if that is what you meant. :sad2:

Lewis' idea of WPExpress is good in that case.

We will definitely head back to the hotel to shower and freshen up. I was thinking $20 total, but we like to split things. We already have Kona planned for later in the week and Beaches and Cream the night before. Wolfgangs might be an idea, and we have never eaten at the GFcafe. The marathon is January 6th so the Christmas decorations will probably be gone.

If it's $20 total, I would do Trail's End. It'll be a little bit over $20 with taxes and tips, but it's a buffet and it's darn good. Both breakfast and lunch are good.

Whispering Canyon Cafe has their all-you-can-eat skillets for $10.99 breakfast. That's another good choice. I like their breakfast skillet.

I second and third the pick of Trail's End at Ft. Wilderness. It would be a relaxing lunch, and a boat ride from the CR, which is a monorail resort.

It may be a bit over $20 for both, but definitely worth it.

I think most of the resort decorations will still be up on 1/6. A few years ago, my sons and I left on 1/9 and the GF still had almost everything up. The gingerbread house was gone.

I do think the park decorations come down rather fast though.

When our eldest ran the Chicago marathon a year and a half ago, he was very hungry afterwards. We went to a great steak house. Have you run a half marathon before and can judge how much food you'll need? Trail's End could be great if you'll be very hungry. It does take some effort to get to it though so factor your fatigue in. The all you can eat skillet at WCC is another great idea.

I would be sure the hours will work for you wherever you go. It would be horrible to get to a restaurant at 11:00 only to find it closed for breakfast at 10:30. :earseek:

This is our first half marathon. That is exciting to know that some decorations might still be up. We usually go much later in January. Dh says we should take it easy for lunch, but I keep eyeing those all-you-can-eat skillets at WL. I think we might try that later in the week. We always tend to go to the same restaraunts so this trip we are trying some new things (except our Anniversary dinner at Cal. Grill :))
