I know this is probably on here somewhere but I couldn't find it. :confused3 Last year we rented from Randys Mobility and the ECV didn't make it through the day. This year, I want to make sure we get mom an ECV that will stay charged all day. Anyone have suggestions for a good ECV that will make it through a 12-14 hour day? TIA! :goodvibes

Apple Scooters rented me equipment that lasted all day long! The only issue I had was if I didn't sleep enough to let it fully charge...The equipment came fully charged, but I could tell by the end of my four days that the chair was not wanting to go as long because I was only giving it 8-9 hours to charge - a lot of chairs/ECV's need longer to really fully charge their battery.

When you call any company, make sure the know the weight of the person that will be using it (include the weight of any oxygen concentrators or anything you know will have to be "carried" too) and ask them for a heavy duty one - the best have two large batteries, I think.

But they will know.

My first piece of equipment at Apple didn't last long enough and they exchanged it right then at no charge and were very nice about it - which is one reason I recommend them. I have used them twice and the price, equipment and customer service will cause me to use them again in the future!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, Post #2 discusses mobility and or stamina situations and includs where people rent ECVs.

We always use Walker's Mobility for my mom's ECV. Never had a problem.

for price and service, right now.

Make sure you give the batteries a good charge each night; don't skip a night, for example; because, there's some juice left in the batteries.

Make sure you get a full charge by checking the battery gage each morning as you leave. If you have any issues that way then you can deal with the rental company.

There are several companies listed in the FAQs at the top of the page - all have been recommended by posters here.

As people have noted - it is important to charge the scooter all night in your room. Don't skip a night and you should be fine!

I went with Apple! :thumbsup2 The guy was really nice and we got the nicer scooter since it comes with a larger battery. And.... they were really reasonable! Thanks for all the suggestions and advice! :thumbsup2

We have rented from Walkers Molbility for years first for our Mother and then for me after coming down with MS. We are gone maybe 14 hours a day with DTD thrown in and just plug it in to recharge each nite. Had "someone" unhook the battery while we were eating one nite in DTD and Walkers came right out and exchanged the ECV to be sure that was all it was. Tell them Carroll from IN told you to call them. They have mine there when I arrive and have it until the day I leave.:thumbsup2 will be using them again November 1-11 2010----- POP here we come!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that about Randy's, although I guess it's always possible to get a lemon. I've always had good luck with them.

I have rented the last three times from Buena Vista scooters and have had very good service. One of the scooters I had was having a problem with the tiller (it would "surge") and they replaced it the next day.

We will be coming into Orlando on Nov 21st - 28th and I'll be renting a scooter. We will be driving from NY. We will be staying offsite at "Liki Tiki Village". Can anyone recommend someplace to rent from that is between Liki Tiki and WDW? I'll also probably be renting an portable oxygen concentrator. Also we were considering renting the scooter here in NY because the price we're being quoted here is only $225 per MONTH. I'm assuming that if we get something down there it is going to be something like $225 a WEEK. Any help/advice is welcome. :)

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

Obtainng an ECV from an off-site location in Orlando tends to be between $150 and $200 per week. If the location you afre going to has an active management office on the property that is where the ECV will be dropped off prior to your arrival and picked up after your departure.

Two advantges to renting locally are that an ECV does take up a lot of room in any vehicle, and if there are any problems a local supplier can handle things almost immediately.

As ar as the oxygen concentrator, contact the Social Services Worker at your supplier. They can set up for you to be supplied here and it will be seqamless to you.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #2 discusses mobility/stamina and suggests rental location. Look in Postg #3 for "Oxygen" for more information gthere.

, now that's a steal....err deal!!:rotfl:

And remember ECV size does matter now. If it doesn't fit within the white rectangular template on the ground at the resorts, it will be considered oversize and that will be a problem for you.

Verify that the company you plan to rent from is aware of the new WDW size restrictions put into effect on Oct first?

Of course, the size limitations also applies to ECVs that people own and have brought to WDW in the past. Measure your scooter before you bring it if you're planning to take it on the buses.
