Suggestion for MGM lunch

For our first "park" day we will be going to MGM. Likely we will have had a good size breakfast (my kids consider breakfast the key meal of the day) and we will be going to afternoon tea at GF around 3:30. What we'll need is a light meal while we are at MGM. We plan on sticking mainly to the shows there, so I don't know if that helps in location.

Are there decent eats at MGM or should we just grab any old burger and fry stand? That's the one park I don't here to much about in the way of "must try" foods.

I honestly think MGM counter food is the worst, but if you want to do table service I think they have great choices. One of the most affordable places to dine at WDW is 50's PT because the portions of everything are more than huge... DH and I dined there, both couldn't finish the meal we split, and everything including tax and tip was about $20. By the time you do a mediocre counter service, you could likely split good food at a nice table service place.

Even splitting burgers at Sci Fi might be a nice treat for your kids =)

For a light grab and go lunch, my first choice would be to see what Starring Roles has (next to Brown Derby). It is more than just pastries now. And the portions look large enough to share.
Agree that MGM counter service is very lacking otherwise.

If you are looking for burger and fries you can also try the Backlot Express. It's located between the Indiana Jones Stunt show and Star tours.

We eat lunch at the Sci-Fi diner. We enjoy the atmosphere and the shakes are delicious! ::MinnieMo

I saw some people making peanut butter sandwiches at one of the picnic tables. We were hungry and they looked great.

Food at MGM is icky.

We absolutely love the Prime Time 50s Cafe!! :rolleyes1

I heard the meals at Sci-Fi are nothing special but that it's a cool place to visit for fries and a shake

for a decent CS in MGM i would try BAcklot express ..thats the least mediocre cs in MGM

I agree, I don't like any of the counter service in MGM but Backlot Express is one I don't mind.

Okay, I know lots of people don't like Pizza Planet BUT it is a must do for our MGM counter service. :goodvibes

We are not burger fans so it fits the bill and the pizza is not fabulous but it's not like freezer case pizza either. It's fun to sit outside and people watch. Sometimes you end up seeing the Muppet characters close by so bring your autograph books!

Maybe you could get one or two and split it. If you have the GF tea at 3:30, you want to be hungry, right?

I second the Starring Roles recommendation. We have always been able to fine something for everyone there.

You know what??? All my years of going to WDW and I've never gone to Starring Rolls!!!!! Where is this??
We love 50's PrimeTime or SciFi. You just have to go there because you can't get any place like there at home and when your on vacation you want to do it up right.

That about sums it up for us! However, DS loves this place.
