I am getting married on Oct. 25th at my home (local) and that night I am taking my fiance'(then wife) to the AKL for 3 nights for the honeymoon. We go to the parks pretty often but I have never stayed in one of the resorts. Any suggestions on things to make this trip a little more special or interesting. I would really love for it to stand out. Thanks.

LOL..you need advice on what to do on your honeymoon? .. let me have a think about it.....;)

Mike:p

HA HA, very funny :o

I meant otherwise, like in the parks, in a very "disney" way. I have the rest of the "activities" covered, thank you very much.

That was hard to resist with the title and all;) . Have you checked on the resorts board? I have seen such things asked recently and the people there have LOTS of ideas of things to do at AKL. We are going to AKL next month, so I can't help yet. Have you made a PS's at Boma or Jiko yet?

Oh, you guys are freshies ;) . My suggestion for a very romantic dinner would be California Grill at sunset time (its out of this world there) or fireworks time. Make sure you tell everyone you just got married and you will be treated very special everywhere. Buy the groom and bride disney hats, lots of attention! Congrats!

... if the carriage is rockin'!

I've read about carriage rides around the grounds of the Port Orleans Riverside resort that are supposed to be quite romantic and beautiful. You might check into something like that.

Otherwise, it might just depend on your significant other's tastes. For example, if your wife-to-be has fond memories of campfires and smores, heading over to Fort Wilderness for a snuggle on a hayride followed by smores and a movie might be fun.

It might also be fun to create a scrapbook of your "honeymoon around the world" by touring Epcot and having passersby or cast members snap a romantic photo in each of the different "countries."

A great place for a romantic dinner and then a stroll around the grounds is the Wilderness Lodge, where you can eat at Artist Pointe, and then take in the beautiful grounds.

You could also rent a boat for one of the Illuminations cruises. A bottle of wine, some cheese and thou under a sky filled with fireworks...

Or snuggle up on one of the resort beaches and take in the nightly electric water parade. Maybe curled up in a hammock over at the Polynesian?

Pick up the bride and groom mickey hats at one of the shops. People will be congratulating you left and right, and she'll feel like the star of the show!

Of course, no matter what you do, it's sure to be a fantastic trip!

ckj and I just returned from our honeymoon and we staye at both the WL and AKL.

We LOVED Jiko for dinner at AKL. When we made the PS it was noted that we were on our honeymoon and our server really went above and beyond! The food was wonderful there and I thought the atmosphere was amazing.

We also ate at Artist Pointe and the WL...the food was good...but honestly, it didn't have a very romantic feel there...

Just walking around the grounds of the resorts...sharing a cup of coffee or wine on your balcony while watchin the animals at AKL can be good for 'quiet time'.

Yes, disney is very kid oriented....so let your inner child shine through too - ckj and I took some 'interesting' pictures with our i-zone camer (a small polaroid camera)...just acting like big kids and being close with each other.

above all - congratulations and best wishes for a happy and healthy marriage! :bride: :groom:

When my husband and I were newlyweds, we had a very late dinner at the Italian restaurant in Epcot. That wasn't the romantic part. After a very liesurly dinner, we walked out to an empty Epctot! The Illuminations (we'd already seen it on a prior night) was done and the crowds cleared out. We strolled around the one side, the drawbridge was up, then we backpacked and strolled around the other side, through Future world and out the exit. The music was still piped in but we were like the only ones there! THAT was romantic.

Thanks for all of the replies, even the humourus stabs, I am only upset that I set myself up that bad:rolleyes:

but thanks all the same, there are some really good ideas listed, I will try to incorporate some of them.

Don't worry, we all set ourselves up at some point on these boards :p ! Just hope the Tag fairy does not notice your thread title or you may never live it down::yes:: ! ( I begged for one of mine to be changed for this reason, and they obliged)
Seriously, since you go to the parks a lot but not the resorts, I would explore the options of things to do there. Viewing the animals with the night scoops, sitting on the balcony, the pool etc. will probably be the most relaxing and hold the most memories for you. We have seasonal passes, so the resorts ARE the highlight of our trips.:D They are theme parks in themselves! Enjoy it!
I see you are talking about next weekend!:groom: :bride: Congratulations!

Congratulations and best wishes to you both. What a great place to honeymoon!!!! :wave2:

Darwineffect - In answer to your thread title........:scratchin :rotfl:
I read your thread title and had a good laugh (sorry :D )........but your thread is the reason I hit "preview reply" about 10 times before I submit!
Have a great Honeymoon!

Dinner in the Castle! We had the most romantic table on the upper level which gave us some privacy but still a wonderful view of the fireworks. Bonus--leaving when MK was virtually empty, watching the colors change on the Castle. VERY romantic!

I also second the California Grill suggestion. Fabulous!

Our wedding was October 24, 1998--we are celebrating a belated 5th in WDW next month. May your wedding day have weather as beautiful as ours was! Have a wonderful honeymoon and much happiness.

Congratulations!!

If you can "swing" it, rent Breathless and take a romantic moonlight cruise around the lakes. Pop a bottle of "bubblie" if you desire...... Very Romantic.......

(Breathless is an old 1920's style boat.)

If you don't want to fight the hats, DH and I wore pins we found with bride Minnie and groom Mickey. Got lots of notice and people seemed to love that we were celebrating our honeymoon for the 24th time.

An Iluminations Cruise

or

The carrriage ride at Fort Wilderness if timed right will allow you to see the ELP.

Congratulations
Sandy

again, thanks to everyone, these are all great ideas. I have booked dinner at the castle for one of the nights that we are there, and I set aside at least one day to just explore our resort and maybe some of the others in the area. I still can't believe I missed the setup I gave. But in all fairness I would have made jokes about that too:p

Thanks again, I hope all goes well.
