Sugar Free at Disney

I was wondering if most restaurants have sugar free desserts available without having to note it on the ADR in advance.

The reason I am asking is that there are going to be times that I will not order dessert and don't want to note it on all the ADR's and have them make something special and then not want it

Just found out that I need to watch my sugar intake so this is all new to me. I have changed my diet at home but haven't been on vacation yet with this new lifestyle change.

A lot of the places we went had a sugar free option. But if they didn't the chef would come up w/ something for my brother who is diabetic.

i even did the Dessert and Fireworks party sugar-free. They made a little plate for me of 4-5 sugar free desserts...the Green Apple sorbet was absolutely deeeee-lishus.

Could you not just tell the chef when they come out to talk to you, or your server, that you don't intend to order dessert? I'm not sure they will make you something special unless you state your intention to order dessert.

There are quite a few no-sugar added desserts at WDW, I have ordered then the last 2 visits since I have gastric by-pass surgery in 2009. Just remember they are not all SUGAR-FREE, most use splenda as additive, others have fruit witch has natural sugars. I loved the no-sugar added trio of desserts at The Wave(choc. mousse, creme brulee and fruit cobbler thing), no added sugar apple dessert at Kona, and an amazing no sugar added cheesecake at BW bakery(that you can get with cs if on DDP). I have tried sugar free brownies at some CS and they really have no taste. Other desserts include no sugar added sorbets and lemon cake at other T. Just look at allears menus( Le Cellier, Mama Melrose have ones listed). Heading back this xmas week and have quite a few scoped out.

When I made my ADR's the cast member said that if I wanted sugar free desserts that I should note it on the ADR ahead of time but since I don't know whether I will be in the mood or even have room I wasn't sure if I should add it on the ADR ahead of time or have some options while at the restaurant. We are on the dining plan which includes dessert

I di not make arrangments beforehand, only looked at menus that offered the no sugar added options and did fine. I suggest looking at the menus at allears. Many TS have options as I said in previous post.

Now I'm sort of confused. Do you want dessert because it is included with the plan or do you think you might not want a dessert? Even if you are on the dining plan, you don't have to order a dessert if you decide you don't want one. Because you note on the reservation that you would need a sugar-free dessert I don't think that obligates you to order a dessert anywhere. It just puts the restaurant on notice that they might need to provide something sugar-free.

Or do you think you won't like what they make you if they offer to make you something? If they're going to make you something, couldn't you specify before they get a chance to make you a dessert exactly what sort of thing you like or don't like? If they don't have anything that will do, you would always ask for some fruit I suppose, if you can have fruit.

Most if not all of the TS restaurants have the no sugar added or some sugar free options right on their menus.

Most table service restaurants have a sugar free choice....not all CS restaurants. If you wander past Boardwalk Bakery, stop in for a SF Cheesecake. It's my guilty pleasure.

I WILL say the carrot cake there is......"shot-worthy" too!!!

Don't forget you will be doing a GREAT deal of walking on a normal Disney trip. I am an insulin-dependent diabetic and there are times I can easily share a regular dessert with someone at my table.

That does sound good! Where did you get sugar free raspberry sorbet?

I'm wondering about Party for the Senses. We go straight there our first night and I won't have had any sugar since February! And we won't be doing much walking to get there, staying at BCV. Maybe they will have a couple of SF desserts, but I kind of doubt it.

So true, even the SF Ice Cream is not totally SF!

i got the raspberry sorbet at libery tree and tony's. it usually says seasonal flavors but that's what i had when there in december!
