Okay, I am driving my husband crazy! I am trying to figure out what to book. I want to stay at the WL 1/30-2/5/05. I am in the process of getting a room only quote from Dreams Unlimited. My husband wants to know how much $$ the room is going to cost and I am trying to tell him that it will be cheaper when the codes come out. I am sorta banking on getting a code for our room. Is this silly or am I likely to get one? So now what type of room type should I get from dreams unlimited the room I can afford without the code or the nicest room I can afford with the code. He wants to be able to see the fireworks which I believe are the woods view. What is better woods view or courtyard. The courtyard view is pushing our budget without the code.

My recommendation would be to get the room you can afford without a code. Then no one will be stressing out and your DH can relax. I believe that codes will come out (and I'm hoping for a January code), but you can't count on anything until there is something there.

We stayed at WL last October/November and had a woods view which was very nice. We were on the first floor and could see the woods and the otter pond. There was no way to see the fireworks -- too many trees. I wouldn't count on being able to see the fireworks.

I know a lot of people swear by the courtyard view, but to me it's just not worth the extra $$. We don't spend a lot of time in the room -- more of a place to sleep and to change into swimwear. When we went back to WDW in April we opted for POFQ and when we go in January, we hope to stay at POR. WL is nice and all, but I'd rather get a couple more days than pay the extra bucks.

I also booked sure I'd find a code, but alas, no codes. At least not yet. Don't book something you can't do at your origional price because that might be the very price you have to pay. If you wait to book a back up, those rooms might be all gone.

What about AAA? You can get a 15-20% on room only by asking CRO for the AAA rate. I saved a good deal with this disocunt, even though no codes have been released for my dates.

Last Dec. I booked the CR tower for March/April and codes were not out yet. I got the AAA rate and that was it. I booked it knowing we could afford it at that rate and figured if I was able to pick up a code discount than that would be a bonus for us. It wasn't worth the stress to book something even more expensive (though this was) and than take the chance that I couldn't get a code. My experience has been, and told to me by the CM, that a certain amount of rooms at a resort are eligible for a discount and once that amount is reserved than that is it. You would either stay at the price you reserved at or you could try to get a code for a different resort if you had a second, third....choice.

I got lucky and got a discount--thank you to all my Dis friends who gave me a heads-up. But I didn't count on it --it was a bonus. Others have more experience than me at this and maybe they will give you even more feedback.
Good Luck!

Actually I don't think you will have a problem getting a code since January is typically very slow except for the holiday weekends.
No matter what room you get at the WL you will love it. The only ones that kinda stink are the standard rooms but even at that most people do not spend that much time in the room. The grounds are what are so beautiful, and a walk on the nature trail in the morning is wonderful, you don't even feel like you are at Disney!
