yes I believe it does. My suggestion would be to go to disneyworld.com and look up the section about grand gatherings. There is a number you can call and they can tell you the diff activities. I know one of them is like a peter pan pirate cruise or something like that. I heard the gatherings are really neat. I wish I could give more info. Hope one answers you a lil more.

There are a few different gathering events-
the pirate cruise, good morning gathering, and a safari and something else-

one nice thing about having a MG # (registered magical gathering)
is that all your res are linked together and you are GUARNTEED connecting rooms if requested(not just you need 2 rooms, and small children will be sleeping in there)
the number is 8 or more- and if you have only 8 EVERYONE has to do alll the gatherings events you plan.

they usually take less time to answer the phone- they only service the MG's
I call the 800# and get transfered (I will use their dime) when I booked it with MG- I had a newbie doing everything- took a long time- extra screens- and I guess what I have been told is that only the MG people can "touch" your res after it has an MG #

the person who is the "main" contact (that is me) is the head reservation and everything is done with rest # and MG # I know that I have read that some people have made payments for sisters/parents/brothers- with their CC for the special events (they are booked 90 days out and have to be paid 45 days in advance)

As soon as you make a reservation with 8 or more in your party, you automaticaly become a MG. I called CRO to make my reservation and once I said 9, they transfered me to a MG specialist. I got the MG#, they will make your PS's for you and help you plan your trip. You can't make PS's earlier that anyone else, it's still for the most part 90 days out, but a MG specialist will make them for you...
Everyone must be staying on property (or a certain percentage for very lg. groups), and as Anne pointed out if there are 8 only, all 8 must attend if you book a Special MG event. The events are a Pirate Cruise to see the Wishes Fireworks, Good Morning Gathering Character Breakfast at Tony's, A Safari and Dinner at AK, and a Character Dinner and Illuminations Cruise at Epcot, (at least the last time I checked ) Each event is available on a different day, so I'm hoping to work one into my Nov. schedule. We'd like to do the Wishes Cruise to celebrate my DD's 16th B-Day, but it might not fall anywhere near her B-Day that week. I'm waiting to see if the schedule changes for the holiday...
Maybe if anyone has done a MG lately, they'll let us know the perks, I know there is a special pin, but I'm always interested in MG reviews...

and they will transfer you, i got a snippy MG person who told me that i should call the "real" number next time- no thank you!

I have the days for each- morning gathering is on tues- pirate cruise is on sat and another day- didn't find out about the others, not intrested-

I did not know they will make your PS for you! they never told me that, and i was on the phone with them for about an hour last time!

Yes, they will help you with every aspect of the trip. I had a VERY helpful Cast Member, who offered to help with everything. We requested 3 rooms next to each other in a specific area, no problem. He noted it was my DD's 16th birthday & that some members of my party were first timers. He suggested some nice places to dine, mentioned the special events, and gave me the exact date in Aug. on which to call for the PS's. He offered to send us planners, info. on advance purchase tickets, and everything...very helpful!

I know that I will have to make my own PS- we are a MG and have special services- so it makes it extra hard! the only ones who can add/subtract change our res now is special res. I was able to see our res before online- but was told last time i called that you can not view it online anymore- they do that with special services res- i guess to protect info

when I booked MG- I had someone who it was literaly their FIRST day! so I was telling her how to do thing!
I think she was glad that I know what i was doing- and was very patient with her- I LOVE THEIR HOLD MUSIC BY THE WAY!!

Can DVC members do a MG? I would not have to call CRO for a room reservation. Do I still go thru CRO or can Member Services handle it?
