sudden panic

Agree with PP. Go! WDW in the rain is totally fun. If you rescheduled to another time of year, you're dealing with cold, extreme heat, crowds, refurbs, etc. Every week of the year brings it's own special charms. :cool2:

Definitely bring extra pairs of shoes and socks, so you can change if your feet are extra wet.

What might set you up for failure is the 'vacation of a lifetime' scenario you are trying to achieve. There have been so many threads on the Dis about people so crushed that their 'perfect' vacation was ruined by this, that and another thing. Rain may fall, kids may fight, get sick, and freak out at odd things. It will be very crowded, and there may be a shortage of pixie dust at WDW from time to time, etc. Relax, lower the bar, and enjoy what is there.

Hi, We had rain many of our 1st few trips to Disney as we went the end of May first of June. We never let it stop us and we did not mind if it stopped others because if it stopped others we got to go on rides with smaller lines. We wore our ponchos and good sturdy sandles and hit the parks. When the sun came out ponchos in a bag at the ready. We were not the only ones many of the families going around the parks were quacking as they were walking. In Epcot different groups were trying to quack in different beats it was fun. Just remind yourself you are in the happiest place on earth and rain can not stop the fun. Many of rides are inside. Even for the littlest ones. Even Pooh/It's a Small World/Peter Pan/Space Mountain/Star tours/Muppets 3D/TOT/RNR/ Have fun and enjoy. :goodvibes

PLEASE don't let your fear of rain spoil your vacation ! Accept that it will rain- then when it does, remember you planned for it :) We went for our first trip last May - don't know if you've heard about the 100 year rain from last year - but we were there - and it DID rain practically the whole time we were there. And guess what ? It wasn't the worst thing that happened on our vacation - far, far from it (but that's a whole other story). And guess what else ? We still had a blast. PLEASE give up the quest for the perfect vacation - it won't happen !! Accept the fact that things will go wrong, and go with the flow, and THEN you'll have a wonderful time :goodvibes

As other posters have said, it does rain often in June, but barring something unusual (like last May!), it'll be a quick downpour for an hour or less in the late afternoon. And all the while, part of the sky will be sunny. You may even be at Epcot, say, and you can see it pouring down in Mexico while you're over in the UK under sunny skies. It's really kinda neat. Then it all blows over and it's humid from the wet on the blacktop. It's usually nothing like a rainy day here in Ohio where it starts off gray and cloudy and stays that way all day, not at all.

I think you are panicking over nothing. No way in the world I'd reschedule for the weather (as long as you are okay with the heat -- THAT would be a deal breaker for me, personally).

Have a great trip!

We've been there in June several times, and usually if it rains it is just a short afternoon shower. We actually don't mind seeing the rain coming in June, because it cools you off for a minute, of course then it is pretty humid and steamy for awhile afterwards. Now our December trip last year- that was a day and a half monsoon. It was the worst it has ever rained when we were at WDW. We threw on ponchos and kept going most of the time. I wouldn't cancel my trip if I were you. You can't guarantee what the weather will be any time of the year at WDW (well except for that it will be hot in the summer)

I can tell you that having the MK practically to ourselves during Hurricane Faye was one of my most treasured Disney memories. Imagine finishing your ride on Dumbo, or Splash Mountain and being asked, "Would you like to go through again?"

There's one rule of weather forecasting in Florida - always predict a chance of rain. ;)

Dont worry. Most of the rain during the rainy season comes in the form of afternoon storms that come in fast and leave just as quick. There are plenty of things to do indoors at WDW during those times. As PP's have said, pack some cheap ponchos, extra pairs of shoes, and come on down!

I too would keep the trip planned. June will be hot and maybe rainy at times but July, August, Sept, and looots of time Oct is HOT!!!!! :lovestruc

OK, panic attack over. Honestly I'm not usually this easily shaken... but I started reading about the storms from last May... then started checking for June... and before I knew it I was in a cold sweat. I've always lived in the Northeast or Midwest where a rainy day - even in June - is hardly ever fun and usually lasts ALL day.

Thank you everyone for the encouragement!!!! 69 days and counting :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Keep your reservations and pack these things:
- some good ponchos
- a few pairs of water-friendly shoes so you can switch from day to day
- a good attitude ;)

As my mother says, "You can only get wet once!"

We had one trip in Dec. where it rained all day (so a bit chilly)...and there wasn't a single line we had to wait in and the park was deserted! Dh and I were on the Keys to the Kingdom tour and my mom and dad had dd for the morning - we all had a great time!

A couple of things to consider...

1) BREATHE!

2) You can predict Florida weather just about as easily as you can predict Disney PIN codes and promotions.

3) Next year all of Toontown and part of Fantasyland will be shut down. Would you really want to miss that?

We were there last year the week after that. Only rained 4 times the whole week. 2 times in the middle of the day while we were having lunch, once in the evening at Illuminations, and we had an overnight thunderstorm one evening. None of it hindered our trip in any way. :)

After months of planning, a villa at Saratogo, 7 character ADRs, a fully scheduled 8 days of activities (including Star Wars weekend for my Star Wars CRAZY kids), and I just realized how rainy June is in Florida. This is supposed to be the vacation of a lifetime. First time for me, DH, 4 kids (ds8, ds6, dd4, ds4) - to celebrate my 40th. Now I'm seriously considering changing plans to later this year, or even next year [currently scheduled for June 10-18]. Am I crazy to go? Crazy to reschedule? I don't mind a little rain, but I just can't imagine having fun with 4 young kids while being dripping wet for a week! And I certainly don't want to pay $$$ to spend time in a hotel room hoping for clearing skies. HELP!!!!!!

You are worrying over nothing, just relax and have a good time.

Disney is fantastic in the rain! Throw on a poncho and go! So many guests empty out the parks, but if you hang around, you get shorter lines! We love Disney in the rain!

I would still go. Sure you could go in June, and it may rain the entire time, but you could also go any other month out of the year, and it may still rain the whole time. Even if it does rain, most of the attractions will be open, and the parks may even clear out so you may not even have to wait. Throw the kids in some ponchos, and have fun! I would even bet they would be excited to be able to play in the rain. In my experience, in June in Orlando, it rains for no more than an hour, and then it is sunny again, so you should be fine.

We went last May during a freak rainstorm the whole week we were there! It was the most rain in Florida history besides a hurricane. We still had fun, and we are going back in may this year. Am I afraid it is going to rain the whole time again? Yes. Am I going to let that ruin our trip? No way:)

We go almost every year the last week of August/1st week of Sept. It rains every afternoon. Sometimes, we get hit by tropical storms - after all, the reason for the great deals is that we go during hurricane season. Our very best memories was being the park at night in the pouring rain by ourselves. We literally had every thing to ourselves. It was absolutely magical.pixiedust: We are hoping for a similar night this trip.:cloud9:

The rain usually lasts 30 minutes tops. It's a great time to catch a sit down, inside attraction. EVERYONE freaks out and leaves when it rains, so if you just wait it out you will basically have the parks to yourselves... it is great, and we've never been soaked.

We're actually quite bummed out that we're going during a nonrainy time of year! We are hoping that there will be random storms anyway so people will leave the parks :lmao:

You can never predict what the weather is going to be like in the future (beyond a week or two)...it'd be silly to re-schedule, only for it to rain on the new dates! We planned our wedding/honeymoon May 16-26 last year, thinking it was a "low rain" month, and it rained the entire (except for our wedding day on the 16th) time. From what we were told, this was VERY UNUSUAL....please don't let our "horror" storys scare you....it's our own little Badge of Courage "Disney War Story" that we simply like to brag abour surviving! :goodvibes

It usually doesn't rain all day. Only an hour maybe in the afternoon. And that usually happens when we are taking our break.

And if it is a rainy day, we found MK and Epcot are still great to do. DHS is ok but I don't like AK in the rain. I think that's because I really like walking all the trails.

So I say go and bring your ponchos and you'll have a great time!
