After months of planning, a villa at Saratogo, 7 character ADRs, a fully scheduled 8 days of activities (including Star Wars weekend for my Star Wars CRAZY kids), and I just realized how rainy June is in Florida. This is supposed to be the vacation of a lifetime. First time for me, DH, 4 kids (ds8, ds6, dd4, ds4) - to celebrate my 40th. Now I'm seriously considering changing plans to later this year, or even next year [currently scheduled for June 10-18]. Am I crazy to go? Crazy to reschedule? I don't mind a little rain, but I just can't imagine having fun with 4 young kids while being dripping wet for a week! And I certainly don't want to pay $$$ to spend time in a hotel room hoping for clearing skies. HELP!!!!!!

I was there last year at that time - I think it rained once - I sure wouldn't change your vacation based on it might be a rainy time.

My 2 cents is to keep it and still go!

Mom, 1 sister and I went on a weekend trip once where it rained the entire time. And honestly, it was one of my most memorable trips to WDW. We wore the dorky ponchos and laughed the ENTIRE time. Granted, none of us were as young as your little ones.

But that just means more puddle jumping for them - and really short lines for water rides!! :woohoo:

You can't predict or control the weather. Just go, have fun and make the most of it if it does rain! Luckily, Disney magic doesn't dissolve or melt in the rain ;)

IMHO, WDW would be a GREAT place to be on vacation when it rains. Still tons to do and almost everything stays open.

You can control many things about your vacation but you just can't control the weather. Ever. Not in June, October, or even next June.

You will have a GREAT time!!! Take a deep breath, GO and have a happy birthday!

I've been there when it's rained non-stop for my entire trip, we still had a great time! It's a dry rain, dont worry about it, and its warm too! Just like Vegas ain't so bad..It's a dry heat! Well the same applies to Disney rain! Have fun!

First, I think you need to calm down. You can not control the weather,or the crowds so stop driving yourself crazy.Rain is not the end of the world,in fact it is great at disney! The weather could be equally crappy in the other 11 months of the year or more crowds, you can't control it so roll with it.If you spend so much energy and time worrying about your "perfect" trip being ruined, you are going to miss the magic and the fun and have a lousy time.

When we went in Oct 2008, it rained for at least 2 hours 6 out of 8 days we were there. We didn't spent any time in the room waiting for the skies to clear. We put on our ponchos and the stroller cover and headed on out. We had a great time and I have wonderful memories of that trip. :lovestruc It'll be fine. You can't control it, so just roll with the punches and enjoy your trip!

just about every june for the last 5/6 years.
yes it rains but usualy a afternoon storm.it comes in and goes right back out.
pack a couple pair of shoes per person and go have a ball.
we will be there the 14th.if dw gets her way we will get there the 12th:thumbsup2

We were there in June for our first trip. Rain was in the forecast every day, but it didn't rain much at all. On 3 days we had a brief thunderstorm in the late afternoon. Only 1 day did it rain solidly and then we walked around World Showcase and it was fine.

We also noticed that sometime it would rain at MK, but not rain at our resort or vice verse.

It wasn't a problem at all. Don't miss SW weekend. It's fantastic for SW lovers. My ds was in heaven!

We went in June last year for 7 days. Out of those seven days we had a brief shower on one afternoon. I wouldn't change you plans based on the weather. No matter when you go there is a chance of experiencing rain in Florida. If it rains just go about with your regular plans.

Don't worry about it! I was there last June and it rained just about every day but only for 20-25 min at around 3/4 pm! It was basically a sun shower that dried up right away when it was done. I'm going back this June also!

I've been to WDW in June 3 times (and going back this June). It does rain occasionally, but only for about 20-40 minutes usually late afternoon or early evening.

Buy ponchos at Target or Walmart. They are cheaper than in the parks.

We've always had fun rain or shine!! You will too.

By the Way, the heat can be bad, so prepare for this as well.

Renting a home on the outer-banks for a rain filled weeks is something to panic about. Not much to do there in the rain.

At Disney you can still hit all the parks and rides.

Don't sweat it.

We went for 10 days in 2005. It rained for 20 - 40 minutes about 3 days; and there was one day where it rained from 4 pm past park closing. We had ponchos and watched Illuminations in the drizzle.

Great way to cool off..but it gets a bit humid after.

Keep your plans..you only turn 40 once in your life and it won't matter what the weather is doing.

You can tell DIS'ers are a rugged bunch. We will be the ones out there in ponchos (take the ones from the dollar store, they work well, and you don't mind throwing them out when you are done). We'll be the ones donning the ponchos and walking on, enjoying the smaller lines for the rides.:cool1:

Take extra shoes or make sure you have waterproof ones that dry out quickly, like Crocs, or flip-flops work for some. WDW Radio did a top 10 things to do when it rains podcast about 3 months ago. Get on their Lou Mongello's web site and explore for that episode.

In 2007, we stayed at the Polynesian and it was a downpoor while we were taking the luggage to the room. I commented to cast members that the extra special effect with the water really wasn't necessary to give the credence to the rainforest atmosphere.

I can't think of a WDW trip where we didn't have some rain. As others have stated, it usually rains for a short time out of the day. We always bring rain ponchos from home. You can find them in the camping section of stores for a lot less money than at WDW. Also bring Crocs or beach sandals, so you don't have to worry about wet sneakers. If you want, you can rent a locker at the Parks to keep a backpack w/a towel and change of clothes. If we get too wet, we head back to the resort to change. Rain hasn't ruined a trip yet. Have a great time & Happy Birthday!

I'll send you some pixie dust for nice weather. :wizard::tink:pixiedust:

Go! Have fun!

It won't be a cold rain - it'll probably feel good when/if it rains.

And your youngest kids are 4 years old? They will love it!

Don't let the weather influence your going to Disney, with florida you just never know, you can look at the charts predicting rain levels and once you get there they can be totally off. One thing I do remember from summer vacations is how it rained every day , but only for a short time and then the sun was back out and it was hotter then before :rotfl:

I think our trip last March was the first time it never rained during the day , we had one wicked storm during the nite hours form about midnight until 6 am and the rest of the time it was beautiful and sunny.

Go with ponchos packed and have a wonderful time :thumbsup2

It rains in Florida. A lot. At pretty much anytime of year. It rains a little more in June than some other months. The rainfall totals are so impressive because it rains a lot at one go. As other posters have said, most likely if you get rain at all it will be an afternoon downpour which will clear up fairly quickly. We are going this June, and we went 3 years ago, when it did rain every afternoon for an hour or two. Cooled things off a little, saw some spectacular hail one day, and certainly didn't ruin the vacation. DS was enormously impressed by the hail.

Never allow your life to be ruled by a weather forecast. Especially this far out. Go and have the time of your LIFE. And happy 40th.....youngster! ;)
