We are headed to Alaska soon and I know they hand out hot chocolate on the top decks...but the important question is does the hot chocolate have marshmallows? :o

Right off hand - I'd say "no". If you're talking about what's available at the drink stations, the packets are Nestle (at least they were on our recent cruises)

If you're talking about ordering hot chocolate from a server, I'm sure you can ask that marshmallows be in there.

We are doing the Alaska cruise as well and DD and DW are so looking forward to the north chocolate . Sound like we may need to bring our own

When I was on the wonder last May, the hot cocoa was pre-made and you helped yourself just like coffee at the coffee station by the soda stations up on deck...I don't know if it's just for that ship, since I've never seen it that way on the others, but obviously, no marshmallows could come out that way ☹️

On our cold weather cruises, the hot cocoa machine was hit and miss -- seemed to need a lot of repairs last time. But they were usually pretty good about having the packets of cocoa there or getting them pretty quickly if they ran out. And I think I remember them bringing a cart around on Tracy Arm day with coffee and cocoa. But as discussed, no marshmallows. I will recommend though that you put some whole milk in the cup then add the cocoa to make the cocoa creamier. I found the cocoa from the machine to be a little thin and watery.

I recall that you can buy "real" hot chocolate made with milk from the bar. I remember ordering it from one of the bartenders. Hate the packets mixed with water. But this was real with whipped cream on top. I recall it costing maybe $3.50, something like that. Of course this was a few years ago.

If you want the dried marshmallows like in the packets, some stores carry them -similar plastic canister like for Kraft parm cheese. A whole container of just dried little tiny marshmallows! Or you can order them online. They sell plain (vanilla), and peppermint. They are light to pack. Can't remember the name brand, maybe it's Kraft, but it's a big name company.

Ah...yes, the hot chocolate machine - no marshmallows and didn't always work. That's why the packets were put out.

And for the decadent "Adults Only" hot cocoa, go to the Outlook Cafe on deck 10 and get the hot cocoa with Frangelico ("Italian Hot Chocolate" is what it might be called).

On our Norway cruise, I put a bit of soft serve vanilla ice cream into my hot cocoa to make it creamier. Yum!

Kraft does make such a thing and I've gotten them at Target

Then this is probably what I've bought, and why I remembered the canisters to look like Kraft Parm Cheese!! The marshmallows are handy for ice cream, cereal, hot chocolate, small handful for a quick sugar hit...

Exactly the same except the marshmallows have a blue shaker top and the cheese has a green top!
