Such a close-knit primary group...

The main-posters on Fort Wilderness portion of this website seem to be such a close-knit group, especially when reviewing the entries on the Camping Community Board. How did you all meet? Through DISboard?

Yes, we met through DISBoards, and by chance and by design, a lot of us met/meet in person at the Fort and other campgrounds when we get a chance.

Oh, I fully expected quite a few imaginative responses... something about beer and otters thrown in early on.

Perhaps someday I will be able to make the 1150 mile trek to one of the gatherings. You sound like a fun group.

We all initially met here on DisBoard. Then we all got together on the 4th of July, 2008. Now we all plan our vacations together - this a great group of people to hang out with!

We met as inmates at Attica back in '78.

I was wrongly accused and eventually prosecuted. My sentence was overturned and I was given a pardon from the governor. Other than that, Attica was awesome...good times, good times, especially at Christmas, we had our very own Santa amongst us inmates...hhmmm.

Yeah, I was there on a bum rap, too, but I found that Attica was full of innocent people - go figure. I managed to make a break in 83 using a plastic spoon from Wendy's my woman snuck in for me and tunnelling into the sewer line. Thanks to a book I picked up at a yard sale, I was able to change my identity and live a quiet and obscure life somewhere in the Northeast now.

yeah, we mostly know each other from the boards and try to meet up with them when we visit the fort.

while jim is away from his site we invite everyone over there to drink his BEER! the otters hang around a bit longer than we like, though.
