Ok, I'll fess up here! I met with a dietician last year and she gave me some nutrition guidelines, etc... but I went off her plan. I contacted her recently and asked if I could follow her plan for dinners and snacks and just do the Slim Fast drinks for breakfast & lunch since I have no time to think about those meals. She said she thought that as long as I was careful to take my vitamins, get enough calcium, and have my fruits/veggies that is was fine. She did say that
many of her clients do this for either 1 or 2 meals a day and that the only thing they tell her is that they do get to a plateau more easily on these types of products. She said that I should change things up if I get to a plateau and eat something for breakfast, do the shake for lunch and a light dinner.
She also recommended that I try the
WalMart brand of meal replacement shakes they are the "equate" brand name and cost $3.47 for 6 or $34.70 a month. I've also tried the new SlimFast Optima shakes (with less sugar) but they add artificial sweeteners and I hated them, I wrote to them and they sent me a voucher for a free 6 pack of something else. They did have more fat than the WalMart brand though, 5g vs. 3g.
Anyway, I've lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks on this and have been pleased with my results. I stay within 1500 calories a day and less than 30g/fat too and that is helping along with busting my butt at the gym alot!
A friend of mine who lives in another state lost about 75 pounds on this and has maintained it for over 2 years. In the past she had tried WW and other programs, like me, but found that they just weren't right for her. The hardest thing is the fact that I am just drinking a meal, but have gotten used to that now. I have lots of food allergies so I can't do the bars and snacks from them, I just do my own thing as far as the snacks and stuff and now I am planning out our family's dinners each week. I buy a lot of food from Schwans (where they deliver the meals to your home) and they have lots of low-calorie fish and chicken products that I use to keep my dinners reasonable.
Anyway-just wanted to let you know it has been working for me so far!
