So Wednesday I had this brilliant idea of taking my son on a surprise trip to Disney for four nights during my spring break, 3/15 to 3/19. It's only about 45 days away. Log on to DVC website and find only one of four days available anywhere on property. Book the one night at AKV-Kidani for the 16th. Call up Disney and get a room at the Pop for remaining days with my annual pass discount. Have waitlist a for SSR for the first and third days.

Begin to stalk the availability tool. Later that day I find a room a Old Key West. Pounce on it! Cancel first night at Pop. Move extra waitlist to the 17th. Wake up the next morning and my waitlist for the third night came through at SSR. So now I've got OKW-AKV-SSR-POP. At least I have a place to sleep each night, but now I'd like everything at all one resort.

Load everything into my Disney experience and it says "12 days to go!!" Wait what? Yup, I booked my OKW room for February 15th not March 15th. I felt so stupid! Quickly cancel and then had 14 points in the dreaded holding. So glad I looked at my Disney experience because I was seven days away from losing those points entirely!!

Call Disney to rebook Pop. Learn that the online pass holder prices are waaaay different than over the phone, $126 versus $150 online.

Put in two waitlists for the 3/15. Continue to stalk the availability tool hourly. Okay, pretty much every 15 minutes. Watch inventory come and go. I'm shocked at how it changes. Mostly single nights popping up here and there and then disappearing within a few hours at SSR, BLT and AKV.

Saturday morning I find SSR for the 16th and book that. So now it's Pop-SSR-SSR-Pop. Still stalked availability tool all morning searching for anything DVc for my first night. And then just now noticed that my SSR waitlist for the first night came through! The room never made it to the availability tool, I've had my eye on it!

So I went from a single night available to piecing together three consecutive nights (I only had 49 points, so four nights was not an option), in three days for a trip 45 days out during busy spring break season. Yippeee.

I also was surprised how well the single day waitlists worked for me. Two came through within hours of placing them!

Super psyched for my first mother son trip.

Yeah!

I've a single day waitlist for May...has not happened in 2 months so far. Good for you!

No it is for BCV. We decided to come down a day earlier. We'll stay near the airport if it doesn't come through.

Happy for you!

I hope it comes through for you! That's the last resort on our list to stay at. It's never available at 7 months for us.
