While searching the boards about upgrading Universal airmiles tickets, I couldn't find a straight answer. So I just wanted to post that we had success last week with upgrading.
I had 4 passes for 2day/2park from airmiles. They said Loyaltyone on the back and there was no actual price listed on them. I took them to guest services on our way out of the park on our last day and asked to upgrade to an annual pass. It cost a whopping $9 a ticket to upgrade each ticket to the power pass. We decided to get 3 power passes and 1 preferred pass (for the free parking and discounts) for a total cost of $80! Plus, when I asked about the expiry date, I was told that it will expire a year from the first date that I use the power pass!! So now I have 4 annual passes that won't expire until I start using them on our next trip!! Awesome deal!!! I have read on the boards, that others have been told they could not upgrade. But it definately pays to take the tickets to guest services and try!!

I guess I better get planning a trip to use my 7-day 2 park ticket that I've had for over 3 years.

WOW, thats amazing!!!! Considering that on mousesavers the 2 day 2 park passes is at $166 vs the power pass $202, you got an amazing deal for a $9 difference! I might just try that in May!!! THANKS FOR THE TIP!!!:cool1:

Do you think this would work if I wanted to upgrade a 1 day ticket to a 2 day/1 park ticket? I have enough airmiles for a 1 day ticket, but not the 2 day/2 park ticket, and I don't really need the park hopping ability anyway.

We cashed in Airmiles this January for one 2 day park hopper adult and the same for a child. Our first morning there we walked to the ticket counter and was able to upgrade both to 3 day park hopper. I think it was less than $20 each ticket to do it.

Thanks RCMommy! I bit the bullet and ordered the ticket thru Airmiles. Regardless, I'm saving some money.

Check the back of the ticket for a date. I am a bit leery about the information that they gave you regarding when they expire. When you upgrade a ticket to an annual pass, the date starts when you first used your original ticket. Basically what you have received are your original tickets for $9 and free power passes. That is not how they generally work. I would send universal an email to double check. It would be a shame if you waited to use them and they ended up expiring.

You can also go online and see when your preferred AP expires or call the AP office and they will tell you.
