Are you usually lucky in getting your room requests when staying at a DVC resort (particularly BWV)?

We've gotten our non-smoking request every time.

We've gotten other requests about 1/2 of the time. Even when we didn't get our requests, there was always something to like about the room. Have never gotten a truly awful/bad room at the BWV. We been staying there since 2000.

Best wishes -

Three stays at the BW.

Requested first stay: non smoking, high floor (BWView). Got room right above the Screen Door and Smoking (also Handicapped). No request met.

Second stay: Standard View. Request: Non smoking, high floor. Got: Non Smoking, first floor.

Third stay: Only request Non Smoking. Got Non Smoking, handicapped.

My general suggestion is to request your smoking preference and nothing else unless you are looking for a specific bed arrangement like dedicated or lock off at the resort that have those choices.

Do the handicapped rooms have the "roll-in" showers? or tub with rails? Can you inquire when you checkin? and possibily change then? I know there's a fee if you change after you get your room, but am wondering if you can change before hand.

Our first unit was a two bedroom. The master bath had the jacuzzi tub (with rails) and a roll in shower. The one bedroom bath had a roll in shower. They did not tell us it was handicapped, we did not asked to be switched. Someone here has had the front desk outright lie with asked if the room was HC or not. We don't find them horrible - perhaps not ideal, but I'd rather get into my room right away than wait for a non-HCA room. Sometimes you have luck switching, sometimes you don't - it depends on if there is availability.

Our second HCA unit I wasn't there for - it was my husband. Roll in shower only. The desk clerk spent a lot of time looking for a room and my husband asked if there was a problem. The desk clerk said "the only rooms coming up as clean right now are HC." My DH said "that's fine, we will take it."
