Substitutions/Special Requests

I know this has been mentioned here a lot, but I’m hoping to get current info and make sure I understand. I keep hearing that Disney isn’t allowing any substitutions or special requests at table service restaurants (allergy concerns aside). I have a few travelers in my group who have some food issues (texture, not allergies) who will NOT eat meat that comes with any sort of sauce, or many garnishes, on the plate, and are very limited on sides that work (French fries always work). Is table service currently out for us? We used to be able to request no sauces and sub fries for other sides, but it sounds like that’s no longer an option. I of course can’t get a straight answer out of guest services, and have to make dining reservations tomorrow. I really, really don’t want to get up that early for no reason. Anyone know? Thank you!!

I haven't heard of anyplace not allowing substitutions within reason. We eat onsite a lot (several times a month) and have had no issues subbing sides with other sides, or leaving things off, since things reopened last year.

Is there someplace in particular you heard that about?

You can still order meat without sauces or toppings. French fries would depend on the restaurant. If the item is currently on the menu, they will accommodate. I suggest you look at the restaurants you are interested in dining at, look at the current limited menus and plan accordingly. Know that since reopening - menus are very limited.

Thank you! I don’t recall seeing a specific restaurant mentioned, just more than one person mentioning it was an issue. Hopefully we won’t have any issues. Appreciate your help!

Thanks!! Yes, I had heard about the limited menus, which would make being unable to customize things even more of an issue for us. I’m hopeful now, though. Thanks again!!

biggest problem is if place has it on menu with another item. if no french fries on menu most likely will not be able to customize to that. if they do not have it there most likely can not do. leaving a sauce off most likely can be done. counter serve could be more of a problem in that things are preprepped so they can not be left off. hope this helps

counter serve is not as flexible as many things are prepped ahead and finished as ordered. even if removed taste could still be there
