Substitutions for Counter Service credit?

We are on the free dining program in 2 weeks, but we arrive late in the day and depart early (plane leaves at 7:25am). From what I see on our touring and dining schedule, I anticipate that we will have one extra counter service credit for everyone in our party. Will the foodcourts or stores allow any substitutions (ie. snacks) for a counter service credit and we can just pack it to take home? Thx

Depends on the CM and the location.

We've had good results in "buying" three snack credit items for one CS credit in resort food courts at values and moderates. Mileage does vary, though.

You can also get your counter service breakfast the day before you leave, refrigerate it and heat it up in the room(if you have a microwave/mini fridge).

I've read that some folks have had some success using a CS credit to get two or three snack items at food courts. I haven't seen any reports recently of folks being able to do this at any of the stores. As a PP said, it does seem to depend on the CM and there doesn't seem to be an official policy about allowing it or the exchange ratio.

Also, one day instead of everyone getting a snack...you could split a couple of CS meals in-between actual meal times.

Then you could save those snack credits for pre-packaged snacks that could go home with you.

When I called WDW-DINE about a year ago and asked this question, I was told that snacks cannot be substituted for counter or table service meals. As others have posted, it seems to depend on who you get at the cash register as to whether or not it is adhered to. If you go into it with that spirit, then you should be ok.

they used to allow the substitution of 2-3 snacks for a counter service credit, especially at resort counter service...however, this year many people have reported being turned town on this.

We were at POFQ twice this year, and both times the people at the counter service were telling customers the only way they could get "snack" items was to order a continental breakfast: specifically they could choose one pastry item, one fruit, and one beverage as a contintental breakfast and use a counter service credit for this. They had a printed card that showed the exact combinations allowed (for example, you could not get biscuits & gravy as one of the components.)

Something you could do, depending on what time you're leaving...maybe get a cold lunch to take on your trip home (prepackaged sandwich, chips & bottled drink.) That would use up your CS credits.

Maybe you could use your last CS credits on entree items from the grab and go coolers. I know the value resorts have them, and sell things like premade sushi that would travel easily. And if you go to Epcot on your last day, Sunshine Seasons has a ton of wraps and stuff premade that you could also get.

From all I've read you can no longer get 3 SC for 1 SC. We did this last year many times-mostly at breakfast.

This year with the reduction of SC on the QSDP and the fact that we'll be there during F&WF it means we will have to make sure we use our SC more frugally. Of course last year we had a total of 66 SC to use (for the 3 of us) and even being there during F&WF we had 38 SC to use with less than 2 days and 21 left to use up on our last day. We brought home a lot of snacks. But to be honest we bought a lot of candy, etc. that we didn't even eat once we got home. Guess we aren't huge fudge fans.;)
