We are cruising in April with my husband's family and we are not sure if my husband will be able to go with us. We would know at about 4 wks. ahead. Is it possible to pay a change fee and have my sister take his place? Also, she has a one year old and could I add her to my mil's cabin, since we would already have 4 in ours? She would, of course, stay in our cabin but be listed on mil's cabin. Thank you .

You can swap a person out, but you pay whatever the going rate is at the time of the swap, which will most certainly be much higher than what you booked at now.

As far as adding another person, it would depend on whether the cabin can accomodate an additional person. These questions are things you should run by Disney or your TA now so you know your options well before 4 weeks out from the cruise.

Thanks for your reply. Why would DCL charge the going rate for a substitution when it would swapping an adult for an adult? It seems like they could just take one name off and put the other one on- not a lot of trouble. Sounds like a way to get more money to me. Thanks.

Also, I believe they have a "maximum" number of children in each age group. If that age group is filled the little one won't be able to go...at least that is what a cm told me. If it doesn't cost to much to add and take off I would add her now..just in case.

edited to add: at one years old it may not matter, since she won't participate in kids clubs.

It does seem to me to be about the $$. I do know this is the way it is, because we are brining my 72 year old mother with us next December. I already asked the TA what happens if my mother gets sick or something and ends up not being able to go. The answer was you can substitute a name but you pay whatever the going rate is at that time. And since DCL gets more expensive as you get closer to cruise date, there you go..

Yes, it does matter. DCL is only allowed to sail with a certain number of infants, since they are limited in the number of infant lifejackets they have on-board. It is entirely possible that DCL has reached it's infant limit, and can not add an additional infant. Also, regardless of the infant thing, if the muster station that your IL's are assigned to is full, you can't add anyone, regardless of age to that stateroom. Also, DCL changed the policy of changing names on the reservations about a year ago. If you change the name of a person sailing (and it can't be the lead person on the ressie) you cancel the additional person, and then add a new person at the current going rate. Also, check who the lead person on the ressie is, if it's your husband, you can't change anything.
