Our friends are going in a month with their 9-year old daughter. She is one of the ones who will really miss Rainforest. What would you suggest as a good restaurant to go to in Downtown Disney instead? Thanks!

Not in DTD, but in the Grand Californian Hotel, Whitewater Snacks. even though it is counter service, the food is good, there is a nice variety and the price is pretty fair for the amount of food you get. You may get a glimpse or two sitting on the patio of one of the Disneyland cats. You can see DCA through the fence slats and watch people hurry by while you enjoy your lunch in the shade.

Otherwise, in DTD, we like Tortilla Joes. Check out the menu. They do have a kids' menu that has items for kids that do not like Mexican food.

There’s nothing quite like Rainforest Cafe but Ralph Brennan’s has fun decor and often live music. Maybe a character meal at one of the hotels? The rest of the restaurants in DTD are also a good bet if you prefer the menu.

For theming, maybe lunch at Trader Sam's or dinner before 8pm (the cut off for under 21's)? Agree that a character meal, maybe dinner at Goofy's Kitchen, might be fun. Splitsville is a bit expensive, but certainly would be entertaining.
