Subscribing To Threads And Other Info

Hi everyone! I notice on a lot of interesting threads, that half of the posts are people subscribing. I used to do this until I figured out the easy way to subscribe, which I wanted to pass on to my fellow DISers who haven't discovered it yet.

When you're under the thread that you're interested in, at the top of it (under the page numbers) you'll see something that says "Thread Tools". Click on this and then click on "Subscribe To This Thread". It's that easy! If you don't want to be notified by email of the possible hundreds (maybe thousands) of posts that will come as a result of the responses to the thread, when you subscribe, under Notification Type, choose "No email notification".


I didn't know how to turn off my email notification to my hundred of threads that I subscribed to, and honestly got sick of deleting them from my email account. To completely turn off the notification, go under "Quick Links" located in the tool bar and then click on "Edit Options". Scroll down to "Messaging and Notification", and then go under "Default Thread Subscription Mode". Here you can choose "No email notification" and then update your page.


Lastly, to easily access your subscribed threads, your profile, signature, or just whatever, use the "Quick Links" option in your tool bar.

Thank you for listening! I just wish that someone had shown me all of this a LONG time ago, and wanted to share it with anyone who was interested! I hope that maybe this will give us all more time to read and post on the DIS (it certainly did with me!)

Is there a way to see a thread you've posted to, but didn't subscribe at the time?

The only way that I know to do this is to go left click on your name on, for example, this thread on the last post that you made, and it will bring up a list, and one thing should say "Find More Posts By (insert name here)". If you click on that you can see all of the posts that you've made and that will get you back to the thread that you wanted to read.

Ok, I now see that there is an arrow in the 'envelope' icon to the left on threads I've posted on. I didn't even notice the legend below LOL

All this can also be done by clicking User CP. I always click here first to see all the threads I have subscribed to. When you post, you are subscribed until you unsubscribe.
