This was originally posted to the community board....

I just started posting this week. In the beginning, I was somehow automatically subscribed to every thread I replied to. Somehow that stopped. I did change my profile to no longer send email notifications (too distracting at work!). Could that be why?

Also, I'm using this method to quickly see all posts I've either started or replied to.....go to my user profile, select show all subscribed threads.
So now you can see my frustration in no longer automatically subscribing to threads:confused:

Most times, I don't have the time to browse through all the posts, but I want to quickly see those I've started or responded to. Is that the way to do it?

Sorry for all the questions! What I really need is a "Message Boards for Dummies" book!:)

You can just as easily check all of the threads you've participated in by going to your user profile gerib's profile then click in the upper right hand corner on Search for all posts by this user.

You should end up on a page like this gerib's posts

Then you can scroll through all of the posts you've made and easily find all of the threads you've participated in without getting all of those darn emails!

Hope that helps you out some geri!

Thanks Chris.
That sort of works but......I'd like to be able to see the data on the last post to the thread. That way I can just go to the threads that have been posted to since my last visit. Make sense?
I'm just trying to be somewhat efficient in my browsing as I am at work! (and not getting a heck of a lot done since I've found this board!)

:)

Wellllll.....

How about creating a new email address. You can set up your own to keep all of your DIS stuff separate. Then you can subscribe to all the threads you like, and not get "bothered" by all of the email notifications! Just remember to go in and "clean out" that new mailbox once in a while!

Thanks, I'll give it a try!

BTW, I posted a reply to the "changing user name" thread. I'd like to do that too.
Can I?

I was wondering about this too. Was going to start a new thread, but did a search first :)
How exactly, do you subscribe to threads? I see how to subscribe to forums, but not how to subscribe to threads. Could someone spell it out for me? Thx!

OH! D'oh! It figures! LOL ... right after I ask my question, I see the answer. There is a link very conveniently located just under the last reply. How simple! Can't believe I overlooked it. Thanks, anyway :D

A question about cookies and subscribed threads --

Are the subscribed threads 'remembered' by a cookie on your machine? I frequently clean out my cookies, and I've lost all the threads that I had subscribed to, except for one, oddly enough. When I deleted the cookies, I made sure to leave the one with disboards in the filename, but they are gone, nonetheless. Could someone tell me how the subscribing is remembered? And if it is via cookie, what is the filename to look for so that I do not delete that cookie. Thanks much.
