There were lots of cousins on both side, mostly girls so they were also named after those same GP's. Hence, we have plenty of Marianna's and Josephine's and variants of those named to keep them all straight.

Margie we had the same kind of thing going on in our family- My grandmother and her AUNT married my Grandfather and his BROTHER (there were 14 years between he and his brother) and they all grew up in the Hyde Park area of Boston in a Two Family Home!!!!

oh, and there were 4 Thomas(es) in the family.......

Thank you SO much for the trip down memory lane.
I have been away from "the neighborhood" for so long
and the "outsiders" do not understand any of these things.

Oh, I and was smacked w/a wooden spoon a time or two, LOL.

My mother used to buy extra wooden spoons just in case she broke one after hitting us!!

My Mom always had one of the really long, thin handled wooden spoons nearby -- specifically to use for when I was running by!! :o :teeth:

Oh, boy... this is my life to a T!!! I am 100% Italian.
My grandmother lived with us, we had plastic on the floor as a runner as well as on the furniture. Let's see what else, we make our own tomato puree, our own wine and our own sausages. Oh, I have a grape vine in my backyard and peach trees. My dad has three fig trees, 2 white one black.

The lunch thing... so true! I used to beg my mom for a Strawberry shortcake or Charlie's Angels lunchbox... and for a normal American Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich!!!

But, I only had 26 people in my bridal party... not enough?

The wooden spoon thing... boy, my mom used to just shake the drawer open that she had it in and we would take cover!

Oh, and it is definately... definately SAUCE!! Gravy is for Mashed potatoes!!

Oh, and another thing, my family calls White Bread... American Bread!

Mt ex is a Pasquale, and he somehow talked me into naming my oldest ds Pasquale 3rd.So we had a big and little Pat. INow my son is the "bigger"Pat. I thought he would hate us for that name when he got older, but he actually likes his name.

I once asked for a ham sandwich on American bread at a deli (not an Italian Deli) and they looked at me like I was crazy! True story.

One of my favorites from Goodfellas:

"Everyone at the wedding was named either Petey or Paulie. And all of their wives were named Marie"

I had no idea my WHOLE family posted on the DIS board! LOL
We call it gravy . So Uncle Tony why didnt you tell me you were a Disney nut ???

3/4 Italian and still scared of wooden spoons :D

Yikes - I forgot about that LOL!

LMAO! My Brother had the minimum - 28!

I would have had more people in my wedding party (and more at the wedding for that matter) if it hadn't been for the fact that we didn't speak to half of the family due to a fight my father and uncle had with them when I was about 8 years old!

The fight was about something really important too, like why some distant cousin didn't go to a wake or something like that...

I have about 600 relatives I don't know as a result of that!

Loubon, too funny.

My DH's aunt cancelled our wedding that was to be held at her restaurant because of a fight that was started by cousins at her daughter's wedding 4 months before ours. She didn't bother to call to tell us. I found out when I called to tell her that we thought it best to change the location of our reception.

MIL still insisted on inviting her sister, though, since she is family. Luckily, she didn't show up.

Most of the family still doesn't speak to that side.
