Too funny, Tony-NJ! I'm not Italian, but I have two good friends who are and some of them fit them to a "T". Thanks for sharing!

ROTFL! I am Italian - the 2:00 Sunday dinner thing killed me! And I have been hit by a shoe!

Lived in Italy (Aviano area) for 3 years and know exactly what you mean!!!! Could have stayed there forever and been very happy!

I remember "shoulders" - a man who was broad that he mesmerized us as he threw pizza in the air - when Mama came in and started to "talk" with him, he hung his head down and whew, whatever she said .........!!!!!!!!!!!

:D Not only did my grandfather have a fig tree, but my dad has one that he named jaochim:D

Yep, and I'm only 25% Italian. The other 75% is Greek but I think that's a whole other list:)

You just described most of my family!!

You forgot "relatives in Newark who have grape vines in the backyard" :)

Pete

Okay, who's been spying on my family? :p Thanks for bringing back memories of my childhood!
Every year at our family reunions, we elect a Godfather to preside over the entire family. And yes, he does grant favors, and yes, you will owe him big-time.

AND ricotta! ;) My ex had an uncle in Revere who had a fig tree in his backyard. They used to dig it up every Fall and bring it inside for the Winter. We had grapevines in our backyard (I'm Greek, not Italian but that's pretty close. ;) )

You described my DH's family.

I still haven't figured out how I got him to move away from the street on which he grew up. His family calls it the Compound because most everyone on the street is related.

And the name thing. Ha ha! They describe them all differently. There's Big Pat (actually Pasquale), PJ, PJ's Patrick, Little Pat, etc. Most of the girls are named after their grandmother.

We are related to our plumber, electrician, mechanic, dentist, etc.

This is too funny.

Sunday dinner is at 1:30, though. ;)

Chris still has relatives in North Newark. Although I grew up in Yonkers where I have all of my relatives:eek:   . this describes them to a tee!  Thank God I'm normal.

Ahhhh memories!! :teeth:

Although, technically we're Sicilian, not Italian (I still remember the look on my face when I asked my Mom what's the difference? :o :p )
