We plan on staying there the night before our cruise, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with their different rates. There will be me, DW, DD(11)and DS(8). It won't be OUR anniversary, but the lowest rate on their site is an anniversary package rate. They don't say anywhere that proof of your ann. is needed. Any suggestions ?

We always stay at the Hyatt pre-cruise. Over the past year or two, their rates have gone steadily up. The best we usually find is with a AAA discount. It usually comes to about $160. We've paid as little as $79, as much as $199. You can get off-site hotels much cheaper, but I like the convenience of the Hyatt, and the extra $100 or so is a very small percentage of the cost of the entire trip and worth it, in our opinion.

How do you set up DCL transfers if you are coming in the night before and staying at the Hyatt at the airport. Can't get a AAA rate under $230.00 for 2/23!!

The rate I quoted above was booked pretty far in advance. Probably 9 months or so. The Hyatt's website is showing $230 for 2/23 today. As I said in my first post, the price keeps going up.

Anyway, regarding the transfers, when you check in to the Hyatt, identify yourself as a DCL passenger. They'll give you an envelope with information on the transfer process, such as what to do with your luggage, and where and when to meet the DCL reps in the morning. Don't put the cruise line's luggage tags on your bags until the morning of the cruise (you'll have to claim them after arriving at MCO). You are usually instructed to leave your bags outside your room (with the DCL tags on them) by 8:30am or so on the morning of the cruise. The bell staff collects them and hands them off to DCL, who transport them to the ship. They'll then be delivered to your stateroom. Check-in for the busses is usually around 9:30am in the lobby of the Hyatt. The first bus usually is on the road by 10:00.

question, because its the night before, I already set up the return from the ship to the airport, the Travel Agent said they couldn't set up going to the port, do you contact Disney direct for that, or just wait until you get to the hotel and set it up with them at the desk?

That seems kind of strange that your travel agent can't add the transfers to your reservation. I would call the cruise line directly and ask. Since an agent made your reservation, they would have to make changes to it, but I'm sure DCL could tell you whether you'd be able to purchase their transfers.

Do you have other arrangements (i.e. not the DCL bus) to get from the port back to the airport? I know that you can purchase one-way transfers on the ship. I'm assuming you can purchase them from the airport to the ship as well.

I obviously don't know the whole story, so I don't want to bad-mouth your travel agent, but I'd call DCL and tell them the situation and ask about one-way transfers from the airport to the port.

Last year, when we had a family reunion on the Wonder, we all bought roundtrip transfers. When our docs arrived, my sister's didn't include the transfers. I called our TA and they said it was too late to purchase them. I then called DCL directly. They told me that she should fill out the extra transfer form in the docs and hand it to the DCL rep at the Hyatt in the morning. We did and the transfer amount was just billed to her cabin. It was no big deal. :)

We booked through Costco, they said if my sis was coming in the morning of the cruise, no problem with the transfers, they booked the return for me. But they couldn't book going out because she was arriving the day before! Doesn't make sense, I could have just said they were flying in! But thenthey wouldn't be on DCL lists that the people have in the terminal? I will call DCL directly tomorrow. Thanks all

I was soooooo lucky and was able to get a room at The Hyatt the night before our DCL western this past July using Hotwire for................$29!!!! Believe me I was THRILLED when I found out. I had never used Hotwire, but took a chance in November (2003) when a DIS member posted about recently getting the Hyatt. I was within days of booking using the internet special rate of $144. I really felt like I won the lottery. We stayed at The Hyatt the night before our previous DCL cruise. Flying in the day before was the best choice we made. We arrived late afternoon, had dinner at Chili's Too, swam in the rooftop pool, I worked out in the exercise room and got a good night's sleep before our DCL adventure began.

hotwires rate for the date we need is $233.00 (at least I think that it is the Hyatt!!!) How did you book your transfer to the pier,.

I reserved a room to stay the night before our Feb. 27th Wonder Cruise. I got a senior discounted room for $123.00, but I booked this way back in August. If you have anyone 62 or older in your party be sure and ask for the senior discount.
