I chose to go with Stan at STVS for our videography. I am looking to cut costs. The additional options have put me WAY past a reasonable videography budget. Below is what I currently have:

4 1/2 hours - Escape $950
High Definition $350
Stylized Edit $200
Courtship Story $500
Webcast $75
Ipod Movie $75

Total: $2150 - $300 deposit = $1950 (includes tax)

Is 4 1/2 hours too long? Will 3 hours do? Can you tell the difference between High Definition? Does a Stylized Edit truly make the video different? Can I put my wedding on my Ipod myself or do I need him to do that? If so, how would I do it? Wouldn't it need to be a mp4 file? I will keep the Courtship Story because it means a lot. It is something I will love to review. All input is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I would cut the webcast and ipod video.

People can watch the video when you get home and you can find a program for much less than $75 that will convert the video to ipod format. I use this:http://www.mp4converter.net/

I would get rid of the stylized edit. I think it's ridiculously overpriced and not necessary. Also nix the IPOD Video. As Katie said - you can do that when you get home. :thumbsup2

I would definitely cut the stylized edit, I looked at a bunch of samples of those on his website and didn't really like them. You can cut the IPOD transfer, and unless you have a ton of people at home that would really watch the live streaming, I would cut that too. :thumbsup2

You could probably even do away with the high-def, I know I wouldn't want to see every bead of sweat on my head, regular is just fine for me :lmao:

I would think you can probably tell, the same way you can on tv. But think about what you would normally need to watch in HD, sports shows and those that heavily feature nature. When you watch the average drama or comedy in HD it doesn't really matter too much.

I would keep the 4 1/2 hours, that way he captures more of the event.

I agree with cutting out the ipod transfer and even the web cast (unless there is family at home who couldn't make it).

We used Stan too. At the beginning we were going to chose the Hi-Def but the whole budget thing kept coming into play. In the end we decided to cut it and I absolutley love my video! Everyone else who has seen it loves it too. Honestly while we were watching it we didn't even think about the whole Hi-Def option.

If you can afford than go for it, if you can't then don't even give it a second thought! Stan does good work and he's great to work with, either way I'm sure you will love your video.

I talked with Stan awhile ago about some of these extra options and he told me that he feels 3 hours is plenty of time to capture an Escape wedding... he said if he does a stylized edit he does need a little more footage and then he would recommend the 4 1/2 hour package. He also said if he HAD to pick between HD or stylized edit that he would choose HD:confused3 He took a lot of time and talked with me about HD and what he feels the benefits are... he said we may not notice a difference now but that as technoloy advances it will make a HUGE difference- he compared it to the difference between VHS and CD. I would call him and tell him what your budget is and I'm sure he will take the time to help you pick what's right for you:thumbsup2

I'm only having Stan for 2 hours just to capture the ceremony and cake cutting as I don't feel the need for him to video us eating our food but that might just be me.

I would also take out the stylized, webcast and IPOD thingy.

But I did want to ask you, are you getting your raw footage with the 4 1/2 hours? I do think that might be worth adding it on (I got with my package).

It's really fun to watch and see and hear the things that didn't make the official video!

I would keep the HD, because in just a few years, everything is going to be HD and you want to make sure you will be able to see your wedding video like...forever in the best quality you can.

We don't even have a Blu-ray player now, but I'm sure we'll have one in the next couple of years so....we decided to go for the HD...

HTH!:goodvibes

if you dont mind me asking what is a courtship story and why is it necessary? it is a pretty big expense at $500 (more than half of the video amt)

Here's a link to the courtship video page on Stan's website. There's an example of DisneybrideToni's.
We might have done it ourselves if it wasn't so expensive. But every couple needs to decide what they want to spend their $ on. And if it's important to them to do.

For some, it's the cake, for some it's the flowers, for some it's the dress, yadda, yadda, yadda...
