Let me say first, I have a degree in jounalism, so I believe photographers/videographers capture moments, not create them. I am not into the frilly, add on childhood pics, special effects stuff that many videographers so graciously provide.
Any recommendations on an intimate videographer based on this, since STVS is booked at my time? And can you please provide me with information on their coverage, if it is provided on DVD, quality, etc.?
Thanks!

Hi angey77

We had exactly the same problem as you, someone else had taken STVS on the day we wanted. We have gone with Creative Moments, they are very helpful and good value too (well i think so), they will taylor make a package especially for you to what you want. I am like you don't want the montage, child pics etc and they were fine, just asked what i wanted and we went from there.

Thank you Lisa.
Do you have a website or any other contact information for them?

We decided to go a totally different route, as the videographer was totally out of our budget. We paid for a friend, who was the MOH's fiance, to fly down and join her for the wedding. They came in on Thursday and left on Saturday to visit family on the coast, who also joined us for the wedding. We supplied the camera and told him what we hoped to see. True, it isn't professional quality. But it was wonderful and he was able to be there. And since we were already paying for her room for those 2 nights anyway it only cost us about $300 for the plane ticket and rental car.

With your background, is there someone you know who would be willing to do it on those terms?

Oh, I work with plenty of video guys who are jumping at the chance, but none of them I would want at my wedding or see on my vacation ... lol. Really, I had a co-worker who was going to come in and do our photography work for the same price as many photographers in Orlando, but after we realized how much more responsibility it was going to be to book his flight, room, transportation, it started getting complicated. Plus we almost felt that we had to invite him to family-only gatherings before and after the wedding and he would have been the only "outsider."
I am staying in touch with Creative Wedding Videos. They have a 10% discount for weekday weddings, something they do not advertise on their site. We will decide yay or nay after we get their demo next week.

I highly, HIGHLY recommend A Magic Moment from personal experience. They love doing intimate weddings and do some special photo/video pricing for intimates that makes them well worth it IMHO. I really didn't even think I needed video and was so thrilled with what they put together that I can't imagine not having it. And yes they'll lay the high-quality footage on DVD. Call David up and tell him Carol married 8/6/03 referred you. Feel free to PM me if you like.

The ONLY reason you would need to pay Disney is if you used an outside DJ vendor. This is for all the elecrtical hookup stuff that is needed for the outside DJ to set up. I believe it is 500.00 that they(DISNEY) charge, not including what you have to pay the vendor.

I don't think an outside vendor pays (as far as photography and videography), but they do have to sign an agreement with Disney saying they will be financially responsible for any damages they may cause, etc etc.

OK the outside vendors do have to sign a waiver they do no thave to pay Disney anything. However it is true that Disney does charge YOU to use an outside vendor - basically this charge is for a chaperone the Videogrpaher and or Photographer LOL although I never saw a chaperone with either Randy or Stan.

The contractual amount (i.e. what we signed up for when it came to sign contracts with FTW) is $90 per vendor for the first 3 hours minimum then Disney can charge you $30 per subsequent hour for each. Now here's the grey area according to our contract this meant that Disney should have charged us $300 for each vendor but actually they only charged us a one off fee of $90 in total which was a result :D

I do know of some brides that were charged the contractual amount so be warned.

Sam,
I have not been told by my EM about this chaperone charge and I don't see it in the contract. Is this something they just spring on you?
Angey

SAM, that totally must be new because I have my detailed final contract infront of me right now and I dont have a chaperone fee anywhere on it. Not to mention that no one ever said this to me when I signed my contract. THIS IS DEFINATELY SOMETHING NEW!

Don't know if a blanket chaprone charge is new in 2004, but I can tell you that in 2003 I had no chaperone charges assessed for my Intimate Wedding. I had heard in 2003 of some custom brides being assessed that carge but I want to say it was under unique circumstances such as taking the photographer with them into Epcot for their Illuminations party. Then again, I may be totally off base. Either way, there are a fistful of vendors in the Orlando area who do Disney weddings on a regular basis. I would *suggest* that if you're using such a vendor (ie R. Chapman, STVS, A Magic Moment) and you get hit with such a fee, politely ask for it to be removed! The regulars know the ropes and don't get escorted aorund by cast members so there's no sense in paying for something unnecessary!

OK well this just goes to show that Disney still insist on making different charges to different brides which I think is plain wrong :p

Our contract was dated Setepmber 9th 2003 and was a custom wedding contract. Here is the direct quote from our contract.

Clause 7. OPTIONS

f. "If your photographer is not booked through Disney you must provide to us at least thirty (30) days prior to the Wedding date, the name, the address and phone numbers of those photographer(s) you wish to hire to take photographs/videos at the Wedding. You will be responsible for having your photographer(s) sign a license agreement in the form provided by Disney. No photographer will be permitted to provide photography/videography services at the Wedding unless such photographer has signed such license agreement and returned it to Disney. Photography/videography for your Wedding that is not booked through Disney is subject to a minimum Ninety Dollar ($90.00) services charge for each photographer providing services at your Wedding. This services charge will cover the costs of an escort who will accompany the photographer for up to three (3) hours whilst the photographer is taking photographs/videos of the Wedding. If an escort provides the services for more than three (3) hours, you will be charged and additional Thirty Dollars ($30.00) for each additional Hour the escort provides the services."

So you see we did get stung with it I guess it just depends on who draws up your contract

I did use 2 regulars who certainly didn't chaperoning and again as far as I know neither were. Also you can see from the wording in our contract that it didn't state just for Illuminations etc etc.

But again as I state we were expecting to be hit for the $600 for both STVS and Randy and we only had the one charge of $90 so LOL I wasn't gonna ask for them to take it off when they could have easily charged me the $600.

Wow Fantasia Sam, that is crazy! I don't have that anywhere in my paper work, but I am also having an intimate. My EM had just told me when I was asking about an outside vendor that she would show them around personally and stay with them to make sure they got what they needed. I hope nothing gets sprung on me!

Don't worry they won't spring it on you and if they do well it wasn't in your contract so you don't have to pay it !!!

I thought maybe it was a difference between Intimate and Custom but I was pretty sure that Ellie had a Custom and she doesn't have it in her contract - so lucky for us we didn't get stung as much as we could have done.

What's done is done now and we did get away pretty lightly but I just want to highlight this to other custom brides.

I wonder if there are any newly signed Custom brides who have it in their contract ?

Next month is the 12 month mark for my wedding and due to having my reception at Ariels I don’t have to wait until the 8 month mark to receive my contract (something about it not being a ballroom) so if no one else posts a reply about outside vendor fees in their contract then when I receive mine I will let you know what it says.
I am also worried about this clause in the contract because we are using outside vendors for photography and videography - I did know about it though because I read it in the ‘Unofficial Wedding Guide’ I hope we get away without paying it that would save us a few $$$
