Probably a dumb question, but what is the whole thing with the Lime Green Mickey Heads? Should I be prepared for September?

:confused3

Lime green is considered the official color of the Dis Boards and a while back Disney released a group of paint colors through Home Depot. Well Disers took up with these and began wearing them on bags and their person to be recognized by other disers while at the World so that conversation and recognition could be made. :bounce:

I, too, am hoping for a hurricane free Sept vacation.

Here's the deal on the lime green mickey heads.

Lime green identifies you as a "DISer" (someone who hangs out on these boards). The disney paint samples at Home Depot are all shaped like Mickey heads and the lime green is perfect.

Last year, I put my DIS login name on mine and actually had someone come over and say "hi". That was pretty cool (and it made my husband realize that I wasn't totally insane).

I put my green Mickey head inside my clear backpack where people could see it, but it didn't get wet.

good luck and go get a mickey!!!

They're also good for spotting people who should know better than to do things like stop in the middle of a theater like I saw a "dis-marked" patron and his fam do last week.

:sad2:

:teeth:

They're also good for spotting your luggage in a sea of similiar bags when coming off the baggage claim. I had them laminated and used them on all our luggage and bags, worked out great!!

Several years ago, DISers adopted their own color - lime green. You wear lime green ribbons in WDW parks to be identified with these boards. Then Home Depot came out with Mickey head paint chips. Alien green became "lime" green and the mickey head shape was a natural to pair with lime green ribbons. Oila!

When I go in August, I'm going straight to the Emporium and I'm going to buy one of those lime green Mickey rubber bracelets. It will be hanging somewhere on my backpack!

Lime green is a VERY popular color now. You will see a LOT of non-DIS folks wearing lime green these days. If you really want to be identified as a DISer you will need lime green ribbons attached somewhere. It's the ribbons that are strictly DIS material. I take several 6" lengths of curling ribbon and have them tied to my waist pouch, front and back. Some tie them to strollers others have them pinned to a shirt. I've seen others who have made a loop pin with wide ribbon.

This is a good idea!!
The DIS also has a store here that you can buy merchandise from.

Okay so I am confused. Is it ribbon or the Mickey head that will let others know I am a DISer?
